I. You may a��Iv for septic system permits by mail or in person at the
City offices. However, pe�its will not be mailed out and must be
pic:�ed up in person at the City offic�s.
2. P�rmits are not valid until you receive a Fermit card.
3 . Work must not begin unless the permit card is available on the job
site. �
4 . Permits wiZl be issued only to contractors holding a City of Orono
Septic Syste� Installer` s Licanse.
5 . All work must be done in accordance with the approned septic syste*n
design. Design re�orts are not considered a�proved unless accompanied
by tne "City of Orono Septic System Approval" cover sheet signed by
the City Insgector.
6. The fol.Iowing ins�ectioas will be required for all septic systems :
a) Pre-instal lation site ir.s�ection to include ins�ector, instal ler,
and general contsactor.
b) Tank installat�on Frior to covering.
c) Drainfield trencz installation prior to covering. (r^or mounds ,
inspection is reguired after rough-ug but prior to sand
placement, and again during pressure distribution piping
instal lation in the rock bed.)
d) Final inspection to verify proFer final cover depths and to
verify that all pump station (where required) components are
functional and comp ly wi�h cades.
7. IndividuaZ holding MPCA Insta?ler Cer�i�icat= shall be present during
a11 inspections. 24-hour not�cn is recuired for a11 inspections .

This On-Site ,Sewage Treatment System is �esigned for a Type l, three
bedroom home in accordance with the Minnesota Pollution Control
Agency Chapter:7080 and local ordinances. _ _.
The soils on this site site are typic�l of SCS soils mapped - HbB - .
Hayden loam bordered by - ErB2 - Erin clay loam. A seasonally hiqh
water table was located at 18" , 20" & 26" , (mottled soil) . Due to .
the seasonally high water table, a Pressurized Mound System will need
to be installed. The bottom of the rock bed must be located at least
3 ' above the seasonally high water tahle. . .
The soils at a depth of 12" have a percolation rate averaging 8.7
min/inch and are adequate for treating septic effluent. . •
A pumping chamber will need to be installed to lift the effluent to the .
treatment. area. ' �
The manifold and supply line pipe must have back drainage to the pumping
chamber.. The distribution pipes shall have their ends capped. Be sure
the rock and sand fill material are clean. The sod layer below the '.
entire mounded area must be turned over, just break up the sod, be sure
�. not to over work. �
The power supply and switches must be located outside� the manhole and
pumping chamber in a weather proof enclosure. A warning device must be
installed .with a liqht and sound device, this is in case of a pump failure.
(Mercury floats are a good method) .
This site has an existing failing system due to high water table,
strong clay soils & .fill soil . Over the winter of 1990-91, the
system was surface �discharging. This spring the system was no
longer surfacing. A boring into the rock indiated effluent 12" over
the rock, this is a sign of• system failure. �

The existing� tanks may be used upon approval by the local Inspector. � ��� ' '
Keep all heavyequipment off of the proposed treatment asea before and �'�"
after construction. The treatment area should be marked off before,
construction. This Design is not valid -� the System will need to " ±�' ,
be relocated if failure to protect the areas proposed for On-Site . ��'
Sewage Treatment occurs. ' ' ' ,
With proper installation and maintenance, this system should have no �� �
problem in treating septic effluent effectively. ��
Recommend to pump the septic tank every year if there is only 1 tank
& every 2 years if there are 2 tanks.
