(All perniits must be approved by the Firc,�larshall and/or Building Offici�l)
1. Pennits are required for all fire sprinkler installation and repair. All work shall b by a licensed
fire sprinkler contractor. Two sets of plans, specification data sheets,fire flo s hydraulic
calculation sheets shall be submitted to the Orono Fire Marshal a miniinum . beCore start of
��ork.
2. Pennits can be applied for by mail at PO box 66, Orono,MN, r i�r�n at,

3. All systems shall be designed, installed and maintaine .-13 .P.A.-25, Minnesota State
Building Code, Minnesota State Fire Code and Standar . tti ms are to be spaced at
maximum 130 square foot coverage. Plastic pipe wil ot o t any time in attic spaces.
4. All equipment installed shall be U.L. or F.M ved f otection service. Water flow test
shall be completed on all new systems. W �est re shall be submitted to the Orono Fire
Marshal along with plan submittal.
5. Yard or wall post indicator valves a ire�All indicating and control values installed shall be
provided with tamper protection. On systems,tl�e control valve to service the pressure switch (air)
shall be supervised.
6. Inspectors test valve shall be in lled on each floor level or zone of systein. All syste�ns shall have
main drain and inspectors tes alves piped to the outside.
7. No water is to be introdu d into the sprinkler system until main has been thoroughly flushed. 200#
air test and flushing sh be wimessed by the City of Orono Water Department.
8. An approved audib /visual device wired to inain flow switch shall be installed above F.D.
connection and i reas nonnally occupied by tenants.
9. EXISTING S TEMS: If any changes in the hydraulically most demanding area, change in
occupancy classification or an addition of 20 or more heads,hydraulic calculations and flow test will
be required.
10. The Orono Fire Marshal shall witness all final flow or trip tests. Appoinrinents can be made by
calling the Fire Marshall at(952)473-9701, 8:00-4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. 24-hours notice is
requested.
11. When required, (30 foot building height) stairwell standpipe's shall have 2 '/z gate valves installed
with 2 '/z x 1 '/z caps.
