SUMMARY
The Kintyre 11 development received Final Plat approval in the fall of 2010. At that time the developer's
submitted documentation for the development included a street name of MacKinnon Drive. However,this
was apparently left over from the previous developer and not the intent of the current developer,Jeff
Martineau, or the property owner,James MacKinnon.
The City does not have a street naming policy. Historically the Council has allowed developers to name the
private streets within their development at their discretion. Upon the issuance of the first building permit Mr.
MacKinnon saw the temporary address signage displayed at the property. It was at this time when he became
aware of the road name. He subsequently requested to have the name changed from MacKinnon Drive to
Kintyre Lane. Mr. MacKinnon has submitted a street name change request which includes signatures from
himself, Mr. Martineau and Michael Roll, currently the only property owner on the street.
PLANNING STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Changing of the street name for a new development is a relatively simple undertaking. It will not affect the
address number assignment; only the name of the street will be changed. The developer paid the address
change per-lot fee as established in the 2011 Fee Schedule. As there appear to be no negative ramifications
from the potential change, planning staff recommends changing the street named MacKinnon Drive to Kintyre
Lane as requested. Staff will take appropriate steps to assure that all of the necessary entities are notified.
COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED
The Council should consider the developer's request and make a motion to change MacKinnon Drive to
Kintyre Lane.

Kintyre Lane. The City will notify Hennepin County, the post office and all interested parties of
