Regular Meeting of the Village Council , 7 :30 P.M.
August 25 , 1969
The Village Cauncil met on the above date
with the following members present : Mayor
Ross , Councilmen Butterfield, Franzel ,
Searles , and Stubbs .
Butterfield moved , Stubbs seconded, that MINUTES
the Minutes of the Regular A4eeting of
August 11 , 1969, be approved as corrected.
�4otivn , Ayes (S) - Nays (0) .
Donald Cochran and Robert Scott appeared PARK RESERVE DISTRICT
for the Hennepin County Park Reserve
District and answered questions for citizens
on proposed nark acquisition in Orano.
Searles moved, Butterfield seconded, that VARIANCE
the request of John Theisen , Sr. , 4495 North 4495 North Shore Drive ��e
Shore �rive , for a side setback variance
from 10' to 5' for a garage , be approved.

Stubbs moved, Searles seconded, that the VARIANCE
request of Sigrid Johnson, 179D Shadywood 1790 Shadywood Road
Road, for a vaxiance to place an accessory
building on his lot before the principal
building, be tabled and referred back to
the Planning Commission for recommendations
on changing the ordinance on ac�essory
buildings on separate 2ots . Motion,
Ayes (5) - Nays (0) .
Franzel moved, Butterfield seconded, that VARIANCE
the request of Donald Georgi , 3470 Birch 3470 Birch Lane
Lane , for a setback variance to construct
an attached garage , be approved. Motion ,
Ayes (5) - Nays (0) .
Stubbs moved, Searles seconded, that the �ARIANCE
request of Dale Olson, 1369 North Arm 1369 North Arm Drive
Drive , for a lot size variance from one
acre , 140' frontage to � acre , 75'
frontage , be approved. Motion , Ayes (5) -

Stubbs moved, Searles seconded, to approve AGREE�tENT
the Agreement , in settlement of the lawsuit Norman Larson �
as drawn by the Arttornies in the Norman � �
Larson case. A4otion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0) .
Searles moved, Franzel seconded, that the PRELIMINARY APPROVAL
request of Charles Cox for a division of DIVISION
Tracts W � X, R.L.S. 461 , be granted R.L.S. 461
preliminary approval with a 50 ' easement
for a street and 100' turnaround, subject
to submitting a plat prior to final
approval. Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
Butterfield abstaining.
Fran2el moved, Searles seconded, that the VARIAAICE
request of Gordon Nelson, 1310 Elmwood 1310 Elmwood Avenue
Avenue , far a variance to construct an
additional bedroom be approved and referral
to the Planning Commission he waived. ,
Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0) .
Butterfield moved, Franzel seconded, that BUILDING PERA4IT
the request of Robert Zakariason, 3005 3995 North Shore Drive
Nvrth Shore Drive , owner of Zak' s Resort ,
for a building permit to reconstruct a
20'X 58 ' building with a lOt setback from
the property line , subject to the building
being usec� for recreation and storage and
not rented as a cottage , be approved.
Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (1) . Stubbs
voting Nay.
Franzel moved, Searles seconded, that the EMPLOYMENT
employment of Virginia Gonyea, paxt-time Part-Time Account Clerk
account clerk, at $2. 00 per hour, be
approved. Motion , Ayes (5) - Nays (0) .
Franzel moved, Butterfield seconded, that PARK COMMISSION
the Park Commission be expanded from five
members to seven members . A4otion , Ayes (S) -

Searles moved, Franzel seconded, that the SPECIAL APPROPRIATION
recommendations of the Administrator for Village Office Repairs
repairs to the Village O�fice , including
rewiring, redecvratii�g and new floor covering
�t an estimated cost of $1 , 500 , subject to
the Administrator using his judgment on
alternatives in wiring and carpeting, be
approved. A4otion , Ayes (5) - Nays (0) .
