Regular A�eeting of the Village Council, 7: 30 P.A4.
June 9, 1969
The Village Council met on the above date
with the following members present: 1�7ayor
. Ross , Councilmen Butterfield and Searles .
Absent : Councilmen Franzel and Stubbs.
Searles moved, Ross seconded, that the MINUTES
Tlinutes of the Regular Meeting of May 26,
1969, be approved as written. r4otion,
Ayes (3) - Nays (0) .
Roger Reed, attorney for Tonka Corporation, BUTLDING PERI�IIT
appeared along with Harry Nelson, Jr. and 3750 Shoreline Drive
Ray b4cEwan, Tonka Corporation officials ,
in regard to a building permit to construct
a new truck terminal for their firm in the
Navarre area of Orono.
Searles moved, Butterfield seconded, that
the matter be referred to the Planning
Commission for review and recommendation.

i Jim Grathwol , attorney for Gayle's Marina, GAYLE'S MARINA
appeared in response to a letter from the
' Village attorney concerning excess docks
over the number licensed by the Village
and the condition of some of the docks.
Grathwol proposed that the Council meet
with Gayle at 11 : 00 A.M. , Saturday, June 14,
1969, to discuss the matter at Gayle' s
A4arina docks . The Council informally
agreed to meet with Gayle as proposed.
Dr. John Lehtenin appeared in response to BRO�VN' S BAY r1ARINA
a letter from the Village attorney regarding
excess length of docks at the Brown' s Bay
Alarina. His docks have been extended to
approximately 300 feet in the water.
Butterfield moved, SearZes seconded, that
Lehtenin be allowed only 194 feet of dock
in the water and that any excess dock be
removed within 30 days of receipt of a

Searles moved, Butterfield seconded, that CHECK SIGNATURES
the Council approve a resolution that
Village checks be jointly signed by
Ralph H. Martin, Administrator ; Herbert
R. Ross , l��ayor ; and Joann� C. :Lattin,

Searles moved, Butterfield seconded, that UTILITY PERI�IIT

Searles moved, Butterfield seconded, that NAVARRE 4VATER HEARING
a public hearing be scheduled for July l ,
1969 at 8 : 00 P.A�t. , in regard to petitions
received on installation of a water system
in the Navarre area of Orono. The hearing
to be held at the Elizabeth Gardner School ,
if available, or an alternate site (Hill
School} . Motion, Ayes (3) - Nays (0) ,

Searles moved, Butterfield seconded, that SALARY CHANGE
the hourly rate of pay f or A1rs. Beverly
Ham, part-time secretary, be cl�anged from
$1. 77 to $2. 00 per hour, effective June 15,
1969, as recommended by the Administrator.
Motion, Ayes (3) - Nays (0) .
Searles moved, Butterfield seconded, that BILLS
the All Fund Accounts 410b through 4192
and Liquor Store Accounts 6863 through
6878, be paid. A9otion, Ayes (3) - Nays (0) .
Searles moved, Butterfield seconded, that ADJOURNTIENT
the meeting be adjourned at 11: 15 P.P�1.
