Dear Laura,
This letter is in regard to your proposed second stoiy addition to the home at 2693 Kelly Ave. in
Orono. The city requires the foundation to be constructed of 12 inch block that is in good
condition. If the existing foundation is less than 12 inch block, or if it is 12 inch block that is in
poor condition, the city requires applicants to provide engineering done by a state licenced
structural engineer. You have indicated that the block on this project is 8 inch block, Therefor
engineering is required. The engineer may approve it as is or he may design a plan to make the
foundation adequate. If you have any questions please feel fi�ee to contact me at my office.
