a. There shall be no more than four temporary business signs issucd per calendar year,and for a period of not more than ten days per
time or of the duration of the event promoted by the sign message,whichever is less.The sign(i�cluding banners or balloons),sign supports or
portab]e stand shall be removcd from public view at the end of the period.Total area of the sign shall not exceed 32 square fcct per surface(64
square feet total signagc allowcd for two-sidcd portable sign).Advertising balloons are oot subject to arca restrictions but must meet all
applicable federal and state standards.
b. There shall be no more than onc temporary sign in any required yard area,and,if separate multiple signs are proposed,the total area
of the signs shall�ot exceed 32 square fcct.Tcmporary business signs require a building permit from the city.No such permit shall be issued by
the ciry if a conditional use permit under section 78-1467(1)c has been issued to a residential property.No temporary sign shall be allowed in
residential zoncs u�icss permitted as election or salc signs under this scction.Multite�a�t buildings shall be considered as a single property for

c. Thc owner or manager of the sign and the owner of the propeRy shall be equally responsiblc for the proper location,maintenancc and
rcmoval of thc sign.All tcmporary signs shall bc locatcd on a propcRy so that thcy do not impcdc safcty by obstructing vision of pcdcstrians or
motor vchicic operators.
Scc.78-1468.Signs in B and I districts.
Within thc B and 1 districts,namcplatc signs and business signs arc permittcd subjcct to thc following rcgulations:
(1) B-1,B-2 and B-4:sizc.Within thc B-1,B-2 and B-4 districts,thc aggrcgatc squarc footagc of sign spacc per lot shall not
excccd thc sum of onc squarc foot for cach front foot of building,plus onc squarc foot for cach front foot oT lot not occupicd by a building.No
individual sign shall cxcccd 50 squarc fcct.
(2) B-3:sizc.Within thc B-3 distnct,the aggregatc square footage of sign space per lot shall not excecd the sum of four squarc
feet per front foot of building,plus one square foot per front foot of property not occupicd by a building.No individual sign surface shall excecd
100 squarc fcet.
(3) I:size.Within any I district,the aggregate square footage of sign space per lot shall�ot excccd the sum of four square feet
per front foot of building,plus onc square foot per front foot of property not occupicd by a building.No individual sign surfacc shall cxcccd 100
square feet.
(4) B-1,B-2 and B-4:hcight.Within the B-1,B-2 and B-4 districts,no sign shall extcnd in hcight moro than two feet above the
highest outside wall or parapct of any principal building,nor shall any sign be located closer than te�fcct from any property line;except that any
sign over ten square feet may project two feet into any required yard area from the principal building.
(5) B-3 and I:hcight.Within any B-3 or l district,no sign shall extend in height morc than six feet in height above the highest
outsidc wall or parapct of a�y principal building.No sign shall be located closer than ten feet from any property line,excep[that any sign
cxcceding tcn squarc fcct may project only two fcet into the yard area from any building.
(Code 1984,§ 10.61(3))
Please Note: This is only an application for a permit. Do not erect the sign until you have received the
permit. A double fee will be charged for any sign erected prior to obtaining a permit. Incomplete
applications will not be processed.

review is required.
The permit application is for a 7' 11"wide,6' tall internally illuminated wall sign. The applicant has
submitted a color rendering for review. The wall sign along with the existing ground sign will total
less than the maximum sign square footage for the B-6 District, which is based on frontage.
Options
1. Refer this to the Development Review Committee for final action; or
2. Refer this to Development Review Committee for a recommendation, with Council to take
final action; or
3. Advise applicant to make a formal request for PUD amendment, for Planning Commission
and Council review; or
4. Approve the sign permit as proposed.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends the Council approve the sign permit as proposed and direct staff to amend the
appropriate attachments to the Development Agreement to reflect this change.
