Re;Fire inspections at city buildings,
Notice of fire code violations
Dear Sirs,
A fire inspection done previously at City of Orono buildings located at 2750 Kelly Parkway(City Hall and Police
Department)and 2700 Kelly Parkway(City Maintenance Garage)found the following fire code violations relating to the
Minnesota State Fire Code.(MSFC)
City hall building-
A;3a-Fire separations maintained-MSFC,Chapter 7, Section 703.1,(enclosed)—Sheet rock has been removed for repairs in
the upper level storage areas in city hall.This shall be replaced and repaired.If access doors are added for these areas,they
can be used as storage rooms.
B;4b-No combustible storage in mechanical rooms-MSFC,Chapter 3, Section 315.2.3,(enclosed)—The wooden shelves
with office supplies in the upper level mechanical room in city hall shall be moved to a different location.
C;4f-Storage maintained 18 inches below sprinkler heads-MSFC,Chapter 3, Section 315.2.1,(enclosed)—Storage boxes in
copying room are to close to ceiling fire sprinkler head. Storage shall be removed or sprinkler head can be relocated to center
ceiling tile.
D; 7a-Fire extinguishers readily accessible-MSFC,Chapter 9, Section 906.6(enclosed)—Fire extinguishers shall be
relocated to wall at the top landing in the upper levels of both city hall and police department buildings.
E; 13a-Police and Fire key boxes-MSFC,Chapter 5, Section 506.1,(enclosed)—Access key boxes sha11 be purchased and
installed above FD connection for both addresses listed above.
F;The PD training room being an assembly area I am also recommending that smoke detectors be added to this room.

A; 3c-Fire door missing-MSFC,Chapter 7, Section 703.1,(enclosed)—Fire door accessing the welding room has been
removed. This door shall be re-installed or replaced.
B; 7a-Fire eartinguisher location-MSFC,Chapter9, Section 906.6,(enclosed)—Extra fire extinguisher shall be installed in or
outside of the electricaUsprinkler room.
