Permits are required for all fire sprinkler installation and repair. All work shall be done by a 1' ensed fire sprinkler contractor. Two sets of plans, specification data sheets,fire flow tests and hydra lic calculation sheets shall be submitted to the Orono Fire Marshal a minimurn of 7 da s before st rt of worlc. 2. Permits can be applied for by mail at PO box 66,Orono,MN, 55323 or in person at, 2750 Kelly Parkway; Phone: (952)249-4600. Permits are also available online at: www.ci.orono.inn.us 3. All systems shall be designed,installed and maintained to N.F.P.A.-13,N.F.P.A.-25,Minnes a State Building Code,Minnesota State Fire Code and Standards. All attic systems are to be spaced t maximum 130 square foot coverage. Plastic pipe will not be allowed at any time in attic spac s. 4. All equipment installed shall be U.L.or F.M. approved for fire protection service. Water flow test shall be completed on all new systems.Water flow test reports shall be submitted to the Oron Fire Marshal along with plan submittal. 5. Yard or wall post indicator valves are required. All indicating and control values installed sh 11 be provided with tamper protection. On dry systems,the control valve to service the pressure sw tch(air) shall be supervised. 6. Inspectors test valve shall be installed on each floor level or zone of system.All systems shal have main drain and inspectors test valves piped to the outside. 7. No water is to be introduced into the sprinkler system until main has been thoroughly flushe . 200# air test and flushing shall be witnessed by the City of Orono Water Department. 8. An approved audible/visual device wired to main flow switch shall be installed above F.D. connection and in areas normally occupied by tenants. 9. EXISTING SYSTEMS: If any changes in the hydraulically most demanding area,change in occupancy classification or an addition of 20 or more heads,hydraulic calculations and flow est will be required. 10. The Orono Fire Marshal shall witness all final flow or trip tests. Appointments can be made y calling the Fire Marshall at(952)473-9701, 8:00-4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. 24-hours noti e is requested. 11. Model F3QR Concealed and Recessed In- stallation Instructions • The Model XL02 wrench (Fig. 12) is designed to lo- cate on the wrenching pads of the recessed sprin- kler while centering in the cup. A standard '/z" drive ratchet may be used to drive this wrench. Fig. 13 and Fig. 14 show sequentially the insertion of the wrench. ' First the wrench, with its jaws above the sprinkier de- flector, is moved laterally until centered with the cup. Then raise the wrench inside of the cup until its jaws engage the sprinkler's square wrenching pads (Fig. 14). To remove the wrench, follow this procedure in reverse order. Care should be taken to avoid striking the deflector, with the wrench. • Model F3 Wrench (Fig. 15) is used for installation of Pendent and Horizontal Sidewall sprinklers. • Glass bulb sprinklers have orange bulb protectors to minimize bulb damage during shipping, handling and installation. REMOVE THIS PROTECTION AT THE TIME THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM IS PLACED IN SER- VICE FOR FIRE PROTECTION. Fiemoval of the pro- tectors before this time may leave the bulb vulnerable to damage.
