The SCP consists of a T-handle,rod graduated every 6 inches,a proving ring of 250 Ib capacity, with dial indicator, and a cone point with a base area of 0.983 inches. The dial indicator reading information presented within this report is correlated with a calibration chart for the proving ring to determine the ultimate bearing pressure of the soU. We incorporate a faetor of safety of at least 3 to determine the allowable bearing pressure. The adequacy of the soils for support of the bearing pressure will be dependent on the in-place properties during site construction. The information presented within this report reflects the conditions encountered by STS on the indicated date. Changes within the in-place materials including but not limited to construction disturbance, moisture content and frost penetration may reduce the indicated bearing capaciry. The SCP test results are valid at the location and elevation of the test only. No.representation is made as to the adequacy of the bearing soils at location and elevation other than those tested. Carter, 1216 82nd Avenue North, Brooklyn Park,Minnesota 55444 Plans Dated: Site Utilities,May 16, 2005; and Interior Plumbing, September 16, 2005 Date Received: September 23, 2005 Date Reviewed:October 6,2005 SCOPE: This review is limited to the design of this particular project only insofar as the provisions of the Minnesota Plumbing Code, as amended, apply, and does not cover the water supply or sewerage system to which this plumbing system is connected. The review is based upon the supposition that the data on which the design is based are correct, and that necessary legal authority has been obtained to construct the project. The responsibility for the design of structural features and the efficiency of equipment must be taken by the project designer. Approval is contingent upon satisfactory disposition of any requirements included in this report. Special care should be taken to insure that the material and installation of the plumbing system are in accordance with the provisions of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. A copy of the approved plans and specifications should be retained at the project location for future reference. A set of the identified plans and specifications is being returned to Plumb Right. I INSPECTIONS: All plumbing installations must be tested and inspected in accordance with the requirements of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. As specified in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2830,no plumbing work may be covered prior to completing the required tests and inspections. Provisions must be made far applying an air test at the time of the roughing-in inspection as outlined in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820, subpart 2, of the code. A manometer test, as specified in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820, subpart 3, is required at the time of the finished plumbing inspection. It is the responsibility, of the contractar/installer to notify the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry when an installation for a state contract job, licensed facility, or project in an area where there is no local administrative authority is ready for an inspection and test. To schedule inspections, contact the state plumbing standards representative for your region, or call Jim Peterson at 651/284-5889. REQUIREMENT(S): 1. The sanitary drainage system must be sized in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2310, subpart 2. The following comments pertain to the design of this drainage system: a Once the 2-inch stack on the waste risers, PR-14 and PR-20, Sheet No. P7, connect to the horizontal branch, the size must be increased to a minimum of 2%z-inch since a 2-inch horizontal drain can only accommodate 6 fixture units at a slope of'/4-inch per foot(see Minnesota Rules, part 415.2310, subpart 2). The horizontal branch is not sized on the submitted riser diagram. ' b. At the point where the waste riser diagram serving fixtures (PR-6,PR-4, PR-13, PR-1, nd PR-10) from Maplewood Rooms No. 106, 107, 223, and 224, connects to the main waste branch on heet No. P1, of the submitted plans, there appears to be 645 drainage fixture units being served by a 6-nch drainage pipe. Since a 6-inch horizontal drain can only accommodate 620 fixture units at a slopof'/s-inch per foot (see Minnesota Rules, part 47122310, subpart 2), this section of pipe appears to be undersized. J Stonebay Plumbing , Plan No. 061159 Page 2 October 6, 2005 2. The flammable waste trap shall be constructed in accordance with the Minnesota Plumbing Code, Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1120. The interceptor shall include: a. A minimum holding capacity of 35 cubic feet. b. At least 3 feet of depth below the invert of the discharge pipe. c. A water seal of not less than 3 inches on the inlet and not less than 18 inches on the outlet. d. A minimum size 3-inch vent must extend separately through the roo£ The vent must rise vertically or within 45 degrees of the vertical to a point at least 6 inches above the interceptor. The vent shall be constructed of approved metallic pipe material. e. Drains that discharge into the interceptor shall be designed to drain dry,and be at least 3 inches in size. f. The interceptor shall be located so it is readily accessible for service and maintenance. 3. The outlet branch drain serving the flammable waste interceptor is more than 25 feet from a vented drain. The backwater valve must have a provision for maintaining the check in an open position during normal,non-backflow conditions. 6. The water supply line to the automatic clothes washer must be protected against backflow by the use of an air break or approved vacuum breaker. The discharge must be through an air break(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1230). 7. Elevator pit drains must discharge to the sanitary sewer through an indirect connection which precludes the possibility of sewage backup into the pit. If a sump is used,a dry-pan drain must discharge to the sump; the sump must be located outside the elevator pit; and a pump must be installed. The waste pipe from the sump shall discharge indirectly to the sanitary waste system through a fixture that is trapped and vented(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1305). 8. The domestic dishwasher is not shown connecting to the drainage piping. Verify it discharges into the kitchen sink or into the inlet side of the kitchen sink P-trap(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1590, subpart 3). The dishwasher outlet must rise to a peak as high as possible beneath the counter before turning downward and connecting to the kitchen sink. 9. Whirlpool bathtubs and their installation must comply with the following requirements: a. Whirlpool bathtubs and their installation must comply with ANSI A112.19.7M and ANSI A112.19.8M. b. The waste control device must be located at the tub outlet. c. Panels must be provided to allow access to the pumping equipment. d. If a shower spray is to be provided, it must be equipped with an approved backflow preventer and an anti-scald control valve complying with ANSUASSE Standard 1016-90. Stonebay Plumbing Plan No. 061159 Page 3 October 6,2005 10. If the bathtub(s)has/have concealed slip-joint fittings, then an access panel, utility space, o other convenient access must be provided to make the slip joint connections accessible for inspe tion and repair (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1220, subpart 2). 11. Water closets located in the public bathrooms must have elongated bowls with open-front s ats. 12. In each single-or multiple-unit dwelling, each family unit shall be controlled by an arrang ent of shutoff valves which will permit each group of fixtures or the individual fixtures to be shut off wit out interference with the water supply to any other family unit or portion of the building(see Minnesota R es, part 4715.1800, subpart 5). 13. Potable water connections to boiler feed water systems, cooling systems,or other liquid sy tems in which water conditioning chemicals may be introduced shall be made through an air gap or be pr vided with an approved'backflow preventer located in the potable waterline before the point where such hemicals may be introduced(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1940). 14. The combination fire protection/domestic water service shall comply with the backflow pr tection requirements of AWWA-M14, Chapter 6(1990)with the exception that the following state ent is deleted from section 6.3: "At any time where the fire sprinkler piping is not an acceptable potable ater system material, there shall be a backflow-prevention assembly isolating there sprinkler system om the potable water system.° 15. The direct connection between a potable water supply and the lawn irrigation system shall e provided with an approved backflow preventer in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2110,T,a d part 4715.2100. 16. Double wyes may not be used for drainage fittings in the horizontal position(see Minneso a Rules, part 4715.2420, subpart 3). Proper pipe slope cannot be maintained on both of the offset b anches. 17. The sump must be designed in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2440.
