A Compliar�ce {nspection was completed �For the exiSting on�site sewage treat nt
system loc�ted on thi� property. The s.ystem consists of 1-1500 gallon dua) ch mber
tank revers�ed using the 500 gallon side as a trash trap, the 1000 gallon side a a
dosing cha�nber, 1 75U gallon Multi-Flo Was#ewater Treatment System � a pre surized
#rench syst�m approxi�mately 111' long = 1002sq.ft. The system is classified a a
PerForman¢e System under Minnesota Chapter?Q80,0179 rules, The original �oil
borings cerinpleted by S-P Testing, Inc. on 4-28�03 found mottled soils (redox f�atures)
at 32"to 4�" below grade. The system is designed 12" to 18"with a 14" to 22"j
separation'from the bottom of the system & redox features, 12" of separation is�
�equired.
Soil boring�#1 was coi`r�pleted at the south end of the system which found mott ed soil at
34" below�rade, typi�al of the originaf design. The remaining a�ea around th system
was distur�ed during �onstruction, but was not disturbed in the area of boring 1. Both
south & nqrth ends of the trenches appear to be ins#�iled 12" into the original oil.
With the rr�ot�led soils afi 32" in the original design, this leaves approxim�tely 0" of
separatioru from the bdttom of the system & redox features. This system is in �
compliancg with Nfinnesvta Chapter 7080 rules. I
Due to fihi$ system being classified as a Pertormance system, monitoring is re uired on
a yearly b�sis. Monitnring includes inspecting the drainfield 1 ticne a year at cost of
$50.00, S�nrieing the IUlulti-Flo 2 times a year at a cosfi of$180.00. These co tracts
are billed in January eNery year& run ftom January 1, fihrough December 31. Fecal
Colifarn�t t�sts are completed every year in August, September at a cost ofi$8 .00. The
fecsl Colifprm test results have been less#han 10 col/100 ml at each testing. he
coliforms have #o be I�ss thah 2000 col/ml. The inspections for the drainfield �ave
f4und th��ystem to be dry. I

The tanks wlere pumped by Elmer J. Petersen Co. who found the tanks to be co pliant.
Nothing oth�r than gray water (laundry, shovuers, etc.) human waste &toilet tiss e
should be di posed of into the septic tanks. Garbage disposals are not recom nded,
due to addir�g more sdlids &fine solids passing through fio the system, Recom end to
divert iron fil�Eers oufi of the system, recommend to divert the water softner also i
diverting the� iron filter. Excessive amoun#s of soaps, antibacterial soaps, cleani g
agents, shoyver cleaners used every shower & chlorine agents may kill the ba ria
needed to tr�at septic effluent. Additives are not recommended. Recommend t pump
&clean your tanks through the manhole by a certified pumper every 2 years. C eck
wifih your pu�per to set up a schedule. _

Due to the I xtremely wet year, we realize that the required repair of your septic sy tem may
have been ifficult to complete last summer. This is a reminder that the septic syst m repair
will be req ired next year.
A licensed s ptic contractor must get a permit from the City of Orono by July 15, 19 4 for the
repair of y r septic system. The procedure for completing septic system repairs is shown
below. Ple se contact me at the City of�ces if there are any questions.

1. Hire a S te Evaluator/System Designer to do the soil testing and system design. �
2. Submit e design to the City for approval.
3. Once th�, design is approved, have one or more contractors bid on the approved esign.
4. The cont�actor you choose should then obtain a permit from the City before starti g work.
