Good morning Melanie!
We have slowly been working on getting all of our open permits closed out for the pool project we completed in 2014.
Attached I have included the final necessary report to have them closed out!! I dropped a copy off for Roger at the city, also whom I
have been working with, and was told he will be on vacation for the week. I don't have an E-mail address for him, but felt it would
also be best if the city had an electronic copy of this for your records.
We would like to get these tied up as soon as we can if possible. I'm not sure if this is something you are able to finalize or
not?! He told me he had been out here enough recently to know the project was completed properly. We are required to have this
report being one of the walls is over 4 feet, and our landscaper failed to mention this. We were finally able to get the last piece of
the puzzle!! Could you please let me know if this is something you could do,or if I have to wait for his return please. It will be a
huge weight off my shoulders when this finally over!!
Thanks So Much your helpl!
Donelle Feldmann

RE: Boulder Retaining Wall Evaluation
805 Forest Arms Lane
Orono, Minnesota
Project#16-2367
Dear Mr. Judd:
This letter is being sent per your request regarding the recently constructed boulder retaining walls at the
above address. This evaluation is based on my observations during a site visit on August 4, 2016, and
information you provided in an email on August 3, 2016, including as-built survey information and a
sketch of a swimming pool post footing detail indicating that the pool footing loads are being supported
below the influence of the retaining walls.
The construction of the retaining walls is structurally stable and in general conformance with boulder
retaining wall and construction industry standards. The walls were constructed with stone of sufficient size
and setback. Other typical construction details such as use of drainage elements also appeared to be
followed correctly. As is normal for boulder retaining walls of this type, some wall movement and soil
settlement should be expected. I recommend that concentrated areas of surface water should be directed
away from the walls. Several photos were taken for documentation, some of which have been provided
as part of this report.
This evaluation was performed using the design guidelines presented in the third edition of the"Design
Manual for Segmental Retaining Walls"(DMSRVI published by NCMA in 2009. Direct all surface
drainage away from the retaining walls. If soil conditions, proposed layouts, or other design parameters
vary from that assumed, a revised analysis might be needed. Please call me rf you have any questions or
need more information. Thank you.
Sincerely,
r
