Re: East Long Lake Road in Orono
Dear Mr. Peterson:
It has come to my attention that the Hennepin County Property Tax web database is
listing East Long Lake Road in Orono (NE 1/4 of Section 35, Tl 18 R23) as "Long Lake
Road E." This is the north-south road along the eastern shore of Long Lake that
connects Old Long Lake Road to Spring Hill Road.
The correct name of this road is East Long Lake Road. It is not"Long Lake Road East"
nor"Long Lake Road E." as it incorrectly appears on the Hennepin County property
database and apparently on the County's half-section maps. This has caused problems
for property owners and others attempting to search the database, as typing in the correct
road name results in a"No Records Found" screen.
This road has always been known locally as East Long Lake Road, and Hennepin County
Emergency Dispatch refers to it as East Long Lake Road for emerbency purposes.
Placing the word "East" at the end of the name connotes that there is also a Long Lake
Road West, and/or that the point where they connect is at some significant "zero point" in
the address numbering grid, and/or that this is an east-west road. None of the above is
true. In fact,there is no Long Lake Road West associated with East Long Lake Road.
Please change your records system to use the correct name East Long Lake Road. If you
