<br /> Council Long I,ake ' s proposition to locate their Municipal sewage
<br /> }reatrlient plant on Long I,ake Cr�ek, �ast of Orono Orchard Road.

<br /> The principal points brought out in the discussion were : Th�
<br /> unpleasant odors and nthcr undesirable el�ments of treatment
<br /> plants will not raise valucs of surrounding properti�s ;rather it
<br /> will lower such values .The resultant loss in tax income should be
<br /> consiaered.I,ong I,ake probably has not �xplor�d �.11 possibl� sites
<br /> within the limits of I,on� Zake.Thc �roposed plant would riave to
<br /> be ex�andeu mn the future.Its proposed d�sign would se.rve 1500 �
<br /> people ;Long La.k� is now 1000 and its expected saturation is 3000
<br /> population.The poirit of incorporating Orono as a Vi1la�� �vas to
<br /> • �+op annexation of portions of the Town of O�ono by other muni-
<br /> cipalities .

<br /> carried unanimously:
<br /> � Becaus� th�r� appcars to be a rr�ore acc�ptable site
<br /> �n�ithin the lir�its of the Village of Zong Zak� for their
<br /> s�wag� treatment plant , the Village Council of Orono is
<br /> opnosed to the present plans to locat� said plant on I,ong I,ake
<br /> Creek east of Orono Orchard Road wit�iin the limits of Orono
<br /> and hereby instructs th� Villag� Attorney to procecd according-
<br /> ly.
<br /> The Council instructed th� Village Engineer to make any necess-
<br /> {��v studies and furnish whatev�r information r'Cql11rCC� by the Atty.
