Dear Mr. Pence,
We received your letter of October 18, 2000 concerning our septic system, which you
inspected October 3. You indicate that a pumpout is needed, and that the last pumpout
date was 5/22/93.
This is incorrect. Last year, after having had our system inspected, we complied with the
new code change by having risers added to our tanks, and new 20" covers installed. At
that time(2/17/99), we also had our tanks fully pumped(see enclosed invoice from Elmer
Peterson Co.).
Please let us lrnow if there is anything further we need to do.
Thank you,

Dear Mr. &Mrs. Sidman:
An inspection of your septic system was conducted on October 3, 2000. A summary of the inspection
is below.
Setic Tank Condition
1. Pumpout needed within one year(last pumpout date 5/22/93).
The septic system is non-compliant due to a lack of a three foot sepazation distance between the bottom
• of the drainfield to the seasonally high watertable. The three foot requirement is a State Code, not a City
Code. A soil boring was conducted to determine the depth of the seasonally watertable. 'j'he sephc
system must be replaced by December 31,2010.
Enclosed is a list of state licensed septic contractors who work in Orono on a regulaz basis. Also
enclosed is a fact sheet explaining how a septic system functions properly. Finally, an as-built drawing
is enclosed that shows the approximate location of the septic system.
If you have any questions regazding this report, please contact me at the City Offices at 249-4600.
R ectfully,
 'Q . .
