The City is again receiving complaints about
unlicensed/inoperable vehicles on your property. These
complaints go back to 1984. One of the vehicles has been
licensed with collector plates but has been in the same location
since 1984.
This letter is to notify you that all vehicles on your
property must be licensed and operable or stored within a
building before November 26 , 1990. If this deadline is not met
the City will issue citations. If you have any questions or if
you have a problem meeting this deadline, feel free to contact me
at my of f ice.

Zone Without Permit
Dear Mr. Halverson:
It has come to the attention of this department that you have recently placed a foundation under
a cabin on your property. The cabin is located within 75' of the lake where no structures are
allowed and work to existing structures require approval from City Council.
The City is also aware of unlicensed inoperable vehicles on the property. Some of the vehicles
have been a problem as far back as 1987. We have spoken in the past about these vehicles and
you have requested more time to remove them. The City has provided you ample time and must
now require removal. The City must also require you to remove the work done to the cabin or
apply for a variance and request permission to allow it to remain. A deadline of October 27,
1993 has been established for removal of the vehicles and for submittal of a variance application
or removal of the work done on the cabin. If this deadline is not met, the City may initiate legal
action. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at my office.

On October 13, 1993 this office notified you of zoning code violations on your property. A
deadline date of October 27, 1993 was established for removal of unlicensed inoperable vehicles
and submittal of a variance application for work on a cabin in a substandard setback azea. As
of this date, the violations still exist. Your failure to comply leaves the City no alternative but
to initiate legal action. Action will be withheld until November 10, 1993. If the properry is not
in compliance by this date, citations will be issued. If you have any questions, feel free to

APPLIANCES STORED ON PUBLIC OR PRIVATB PROPSRTY. It is unlawful to _
park or store any unlicensed, unregistered or inoperable motor
vehicle lacking essential parts , household furnishings or
appliances, or parts or components thereof, on any property, public
or private, unless housed within a lawfully erected building. Any
violation of this Section is declared to be a nuisance and upon
seven days written notice to the owne�ivatesp�emiseston whichdsuch

any person to abandon a motor vehicle on any public or private
property without the consent of the person in control of such

SEC. 9.52. PROSIBITED USE AND PARRING OF MOBILE HOMSS AND
' RECRF.ATIONAL CAMPING VSHICLES.
Subd. 1. Definitions. The terms "mobile home" and
"recreational camping vehicle" shall mean and include the follo unit
definitions, ande Sof 1MinnesotaudManufactured tHousing Sseal or
bearing a Sta
certificate.
A. "Travel Trailer " - A vehicular , portable
structure built on a chassis, designed to be used as Permanently
dwelling for travel, recreational, and vacation uses,
identified "Travel Trailer" by the manufacturer of the trailer.
B. "Pick-up Coach" - A structure designed to be
mounted on a truck chassis for use as a temporary dwelling for
travel, recreation and vacation.
C. "Motor Home" - A portable, temporary dwelling to
be used for travel, recreation and vacation, constructed as an
integral part of a self-propelled vehicle.
D. "Camping Trailer" - A folding structure, mounted
on wheels and designed for travel, recreation and vacation uses.

Conditions exist on the indicated property which constitute a violation of the following section(s)of the
Orono Zoning Ordinance:
X SECTION 9.50. JUNKCAR.S, FURNITURE,HOUSEHOLD FURNISHINGSAND
APPLIANCES STORED ON PUBLIC OR PRIVATE PROPERTY.
It is unlawful to park or store any unlicenced, unregistered or inoperable motor vehicle lacking
essential parts, household furnishings or appliances, or parts or components thereof, on any
property,public or private,unles§housed within a lawfully erected building. Any violation of this
Section is declared to be a nuisance and upon seven days written notice to the owner,as shown by
the records in the office of the County Auditor, of private premises on which such material is
found, the City may remove the same and certify the cost of such removal as any other special

SECTION 9.55. MAINTENANCE OF PRIYATE PROPERTY.
SUBD.1. It is the duty of the owner of every vacant property and the owner and occupant of every
occupied property to maintain same in a neat, clean and presentable manner free of any junk,
debris,refuse, litter,dead trees,or noxious weeds,and to remove all other public health or safety
hazards therefrom.
SUBD.2. Grass and Weeds. The owner or occupant of every lot or pazcel shall regularly
cut or otherwise maintain all grass and weeds thereon at a height of not more than six(6) inches.
SUBD.3. Any violation of this section is declared to be a nuisance and public safety and welfare
hazard and upon seven days written notice to the owner, as shown by the records of the office of
the County Auditor, of private premises on which such material is found or any conditions in
violation of this code section exist, the City may remove the same or correct any conditions in
violation,and certify the cost of such removals or corrections as any other special assessment.
Please take action to comply with the above ordinance requirement(s)by Mav 6,2002
