HomeMy WebLinkAboutEmail blurb for public hearingThe Orono City Council has recently questioned the regulation of released sex offenders into the city. There is some concern that these released Level III sex offenders may reoffend, impacting the public’s health, safety and general welfare. Specifically, the council has questioned whether it would be appropriate and enforceable to regulate the dwelling locations of these offenders away from where children may congregate, schools, parks, dasy care centers, etc. The Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the Orono Council chambers, 2780 Kelley Parkway. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive comment from the public with which the city will draft an ordinance for consideration at a future meeting. All persons wishing to be heard are encouraged to attend. Written comments are accepted and should be submitted to the City of Orono by noon on November 14, 2016 if possible. (email to jbarnhart@ci.orono.mn.us). Background information can be found by visiting the City’s website.
