Minnetonka In the summer of 2007, the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District(LMCD)staff conducted lake-
Steve Johnson wide inspections of watercraft storage on Lake Minnetonka. At that time, your location was
Mound identified as one that may have had more restricted watercraft stored at your site than what was
Keith Kask
Deephaven allowed within your dock use area. In follow-up to that inspection, a letter was submitted to you
Dennis Klohs with the intent to provide relevant and current educational information to allow you to assess
Minnetonka Beach Whether our dock and watercraft stora e confi uration was out of com liance, and, if so,to take
Bil101son y g g P
vtoa the steps necessary to voluntarily bring the storage of watercraft into compliance with the LMCD
Kelsey Page Ordinances;with re-inspections planned for the 2008 boating season. Based on my re-inspection
Greenwood
Herb Suerth and documentation received boat storaqe at the subiect site continued to be out of compliance
woodiand with LMCD Code.
Dick Woodruff
Shorewood
To assess how many restricted watercraft your site can store, the following information is enciosed:
• A tlocument outlining frequently asked questions relating to boat storage.
• An excerpt from LMCD Code Section 2.02,which is also found in its entirety
on the LMCD web site at http:/Iwww.Imcd.orq/paqes/Chapter2.htm.
• An educational flyer to help you define your dock use area.
Re-inspection of your site is planned in 2009 and beyond. Since you have not brought your
site into voluntary compliance with LMCD Code, any further violations will require me to
turn this matter over to the LMCD prosecuting attorney. Re-inspections will begin in June.
Please give me a call at 952-745-0789,so that we may review findings as they relate specifically to
your property.
Sincerely,
Emily Herman

The letter is utilized as the LMCD's second step in communication to
documented sites storing three or four restricted watercraft. Prior to
mailing the letter, staff has confirmed the sites estimated shoreline
and, if possible, the ownership of their watercraft. All sites will be re-
inspected in the 2009 boating season.
