Dear Melanie:
We have reviewed the plans for the proposed house and associated grading to be constructed at
3380 Graham Hill Road. The plans are dated 1-3-11. We have the following comments with
regards to engineering matters:
• Culvert elevations as well as pipe size and type should be shown on the plan.
• Proposed contours should be shown between the south side of the house and pool to the
south property line.
• This project will disturb more than 100 CY of material. Sediment and erosion control
information meeting the requirements of Orono's Ciry Code 79-7(c)(2) must be
submitted. The minimum $2000 sediment and erosion control financial security should
be required of the owner for this permit.

Road. The plans are dated 8-24-11. We have the following comments with regards to
engineering matters:
• The plan appears to follow the intended drainage patterns in the approved grading plan.
However, contours for the entire property must be included on the as-built drawing. A
new plan must be submitted for review.

Our engineer has reviewed the survey dated March 28, 2012, copy attached. and his report is below.
Please have the surveyor correct the missing/incorrect information and re-submit for our review.

I have reviewed the permit for the addition of the proposed fire place/ pizza oven and have the following
comments:
1. The survey provided does not show the grading required to install the fire place/ pizza oven.
Currently, there is approximately a 2.5'-3' drop in elevation across the structure, but the plans
provided show the ground being level in front of the fire place/ pizza oven.
2. I would anticipate the area between the pool and the fire place/ pizza oven will graded flat to
allow for easier access to the fire place/ pizza oven. The applicant should clarify if any grading or
improvements are going to be included with this application.
3. The submitted survey calls for a "Proposed Pool", when the pool is existing.

Christine,
I have reviewed the above mentioned survey and have a couple of concerns:
• I performed a site visit yesterday, and there is a retaining wall on one side of the pool which does not show up
on the survey. This should be included.
• There is no erosion control on the property. Erosion control should be installed as the slope going down the hill
does show signs of erosion. Erosion control should be installed and shown on the plans, until vegetation is
established.

I performed an as-built survey review at 3380 Graham Hiil Rd and have the following concerns:
• The as-built survey needs to be updated to show the retaining wall along the entire western side of the pool and
the steps associated with the retaining wall.
• The as-built survey needs to be updated to show the patio area connecting the house to the barbeque to the
pool area.
• The survey needs to show the retaining wall along the western side of the concrete pad where the pool
equipment is located.
