Post Office Box 66 Crystal Bay, MN 55323 Re: 3235 Graham Hill Road File No. 000139-10000-2 Building Permit No. 2009-0332 Dear Melanie: We have reviewed the as-built grading plan for 3235 Graham Hill Road dated 8-16-10. We have the following comments with regards to engineering matters: • There were significant changes to the approved driveway design that result in a greater hard cover area than proposed. If hardcover limits are an issue with this properry, we recommend the applicant submit updated hardcover calculations. • An unplanned retaining wall was constructed on the south side of the house. This wall has sections greater than four feet in height and to our knowledge, engineered wall plans have not been provided to the city. We recommend that the city require the submittal of wall design caiculations and as-built drawings certified by engineer. • The overall as-built grading plan is generally consistent with the proposed grading plan and is acceptable from an engineering standpoint. The height and separation of the wall do require engineering design and calculations. Although this information has not been field verified, the sketch provided shows that the typical design elements were considered in the construction of the wall.
