This is a design approval form which must accompany the site plan. A permit must be issued to a licensed septic contractor prior to installation. A list of currently licensed septic contractors is enclosed. NOTICE TO INSTALLERS: Any changes to the approved plans and specs must have prior approval of the Inspector (473-7357). Call for inspections 24 hours in advance. ALL DRAINFIELD AREAS MUST BE FENCED OFF prior to building site excavation and fencing must remain in place until final site grading. Approval to pour footings will not be granted until the Inspections Department has verified that primary and alternate sites are adequately protected. NO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC OF ANY KIND (cars, trucks, earth moving equipment, etc.) is allowed within 20' of tested drainfield sites either before or after system construction. Compaction of these areas could render them unusable prohibiting the timely completion and or limiting the long term use of the property. A site copy will be available at the City Offices for the septic contractor. CITY OF R NO B ,G i' y l",----- Stephen W an, On-site Systems Manager TELEPf IONE-473-7357•FAX-473-0510 -P T S ESTING NC. Steven B. Schirmers • MPCA Cert.No. 627 951 Katydid Lane NE • St. Michael, MN 55376 • (612) 497-3566 FAX (612)-497-5011 State License #394 June 30, 1999 Bob Lux 1209 French Creek Fr. Orono, Henn. Co., MN This site has an existing on-site sewage treatment system consisting of 2-1000 gallon septic tanks and 1000sq.ft. of trench system for a four bedroom home. The future site is located south of the existing system, south and southwest of the house. It appears that part of the future site was disturbed during construction for the house. The proposal is to construct a driveway through part of the old future site. Soil borings and percolation tests were completed in an area for a 1000sq.ft. pressurized seepage bed. The soils in the area of TH#4 are compacted with the compaction ending approximatefy 8' north of TH#4A, with the remaining soils being suitable for an on-site sewage treatment system. To assure long term survival of the system, a Class 1 Multi-Flo, Aerobic Wastewater Treatment System will be installed, which is classified as standard under Minnesota Chapter 7080 rules. The highly treated, filtered effluent produced by the Multi-Flo is over 95% free of the normal sewage contaminants that cause the progressive failure of conventional systems. The unit will be a 600 gal/day (4BR). A trash trap is installed in front of the Multi-Flo. The unit requires to be serviced 2 times a year which will be done by Schirmers Wastewater Treatment Systems, Inc. A 2 year service & parts warranty comes with the purchase of the unit. After that time, the homeowner is required to carry a Service Contract at $100.00 a year (1999 price). A report is sent to the homeowner, city, MPCA & Multi-Flo yearly. The trash trap, Multi-Flo and pumping chamber will need to be pumped when the setable soldis reach 50%. This will be determined at the time of service. The soils on this site are a sandy loam. The seasonally saturated soils were located at 60" to 66" (mottled soil). The soils at a depth of 18" to 28" have a percolation rate of 20.4 mpi. 1 ► 1 A pumping chamber will need to be installed to lift the effluent to the treatment area. The power supply and switches must be located outside the manhole and pumping chamber in a weather proof enclosure. A waming device must be installed with a light and sound device, this is in case of a pump failure. All neighboring wells are located greater than 100' away from the proposed treatment area. Keep all heavy equipment off of the proposed treatment area before and after construction. The treatment area should be marked off before construction. This Design is not valid & the system will need to be relocated if failure to protect the areas proposed for On-Site Sewage Treatment occurs. With proper installation and maintenance, this system should have no problem in treating septic effluent effectively. Nothing other than human waste, toilet tissue, laundry, showers, water softener etc. should be disposed of into the septic tanks. Iron filters must be diverted out of the system. Garbage disposals are not recommended, due to adding more solids & fine solids passing through to the system. Excessive amounts of soaps, anti-bacterial soaps, cleaning agents & chlorine agents may kill the bacteria needed to treat septic effluent. Additives are not recommended. , Steven B.
