Erosion control mechanisms must be installed and inspected by the City prior to any land
disturbing activities. The contractor must provide a minimum of a 24 hour notice prior to �
inspection.
Erosion control shall be installed and maintained throughout the entire project and must
remain until vegetation has been established. ���
A haul route shall be submitted to the City Engineer for approval and inspection prior to
commencement of hauling from the site.The property owner shall be responsible for cleaning �
and repair of roadways for any adverse impacts.

Advisory Comments

I've stamped the grading plan approved with eh following comments:
1. Driveway requires paving from roadway for a minimum of 20 ft. in order to reduce driveway drive way runoff
depositing soil and debris upon the roadway. Orono municipal code Sec 18-136(f). Further driveway should be
crowned to minimize runoff directed at the road way.

We received an updated survey addressing engineering and planning concerns. Please review and provide comments.
I have asked Roger to review the new proposed driveway location since it's located between the existing and proposed
septic locations. Also,the existing deck is going to be removed and a replacement, plus expansion deck is
proposed. Those plans are forthcoming.

We received a building permit application for two additions to the existing house.
Adam has a copy of the building plans and survey and Roger has the rest of the file.
I noticed the survey has a disclaimer that the existing driveway location may not be accurate because of snow and
ice. The existing garage is be turned into bedrooms and I don't see a new driveway proposed.
Please review and provide comments.

On August 29, 2016 the City received a building permit application for two additions to the existing house. Staff
conducted a preliminary review based on the information provided and recommends the following items be
submitted or revised in order for your application to be considered complete and for the plan review to continue:
1. Certificate of Survey. Our engineer has reviewed the survey and has the following comments:
a. The subject plans depict a new garage on the opposite side of the home; however the plans do
not depict a driveway leading to the new garage. The new driveway should be included on the
plans. Reference City Code Section 18-136 (copy enclosed)for residential driveways, approaches
and turnaround requirements. A new curb cut onto Ferndale Road North will need to be approved
by the City Engineer.
b. Erosion/perimeter sediment control should be depicted on the plans.
c. Both septic areas should be protected with orange snow fence or something similar during
construction.
d. The surveyor notes the driveway location is approximate due to being partially covered with snow
and ice. Are there any patios or other hardcover improvements on this property? If so all should
be show.
2. Landscape Plan. Will there be any changes to the landscaping with the proposed additions? If so, the
City requires a landscape plan be submitted showing all the proposed exterior/landscaping
improvements, i.e. patios, grading, sidewalks, retaining walls, etc. The plan should include the name of
the individual performing the work. Any proposed patios, grading, sidewalks, retaining walls shown on

3. Hardcover Calculations.

A site inspection and monitoring by District staff will be performed where the activity involves:

� a single family residential development greater than 5 acres or of any size if within the
Minnehaha Creek subwatershed
• any alteration of a floodplain or wetland
• dredging within the beds, banks or shores of any protected water or wetland
• a violation
