Rick Schnobrich
Dear Sir:
This letter is regarding the septic system for 3060 Fox Street. The current system is not code
compliant and must be replaced by 20l 0. There is an approved mound site and design on the
NW corner of the property. Since this is the only spot available a variance was granted on May
12, 1998 to allow the system to be put in closer than 20 feet to the NW corner of the house,
garage and property line. This variance will be good until 2010. If there is an addition to the
footprint of the house or garage it will void the current variance and a new one will have to be
granted.
The mound design is only good for a three bedroom house. Any more than three bedrooms will
require a new design to be drawn up. This will also require a larger mound system.
Any addition of plumbing or adding a bedroom will require a new mound to be put in before the
2010 date. The new mound will have to be put in before and construction takes place.
lf you have any questions please call the number listed above.
Sincerely,
, /

Dear NIr. & Mrs. Chadvick:
An inspection of your septic system was conducted on May 10, 2000. A summary of the inspection
is belo«.
Septic Tank Condition
1. Pumpout not needed at this time.
The septic system is non-compliant due to a lack of a three foot separation distance between the bottom
of the drainfield to the seasonally highvatertable. The three foot requirement is a State Code, not a City
Code. A soil boring was conducted to determine the depth of the seasonally watertable. The septic
svstem must be replaced no later than December 31,2010. It is recommended that you contact the City
vhen making plans to upgrade the septic system such that City Staff will be able to explain all the
options available to you.
Enclosed is a list of state licensed septic contractors who work in Orono on a regular basis. Also
enclosed is a fact sheet explaininb how a septic system functions properly. Finally, an as-built drawing
is enclosed that shows the approximate location of the septic s_ystem.
If youu have an5 questions regarding this report, please contact me at the City Offices at 249-4600.
