Dear Ms. �Iultstrand:
Enclosed is the following information which leads me to conclude that the residence at 2555 Fox
Street is in Flood Zone C rather than Flood Zone A:
1. Certificate of Survey indicating lowest floor level proposed at elevation 933.60.
2. Letter from Minnesota Department of Natural Resources defining O��W for north
portion of French Lake basin at elevation 930.5.
3. Orono Zoning Code Section 10.55, Subdivision 7 regarding regulatory flood
protection elevation.
4. Orono Zoning Code Section 10.56, Subdivision 16 (ll), regarding minimum
lowest floor elevations.
5. Copy of HUD Flood Insurance Rate Map.
6. Data from Orono Surface Water Management Plan indicating that for the 100-
year 24 hour storm, the maximum storage depth in the French Lake basin would
be 0.8475 feet. Adding ttiis to the 930.5 elevation OHW yields a flood plain
elevation of just under 931.5. From the proposed survey, the house will be
above the 932.0 contour, hence not in the flood plain.
In approving construction of a residence at 2555 Fox Street, the City required that the lowest
floor be elevated three feet above the 930.5 OHW elevation, per our Code requirements. Your
surveyor should be able to verify the as-built finished floor elevation..
