SPECIAL ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MINUTES FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 6, 1998
ROLL
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jabbour at 8:00 a.m. Members present: Mayor Jabbour
and Council Members Goetten, Kelley and Peterson. Members absent: Council Member Flint.
Others present: Ron Moorse, City Administrator; Greg Gappa, Public Services Director; Tom
Kellogg, Consultant Engineer; and Glenn Cook, Consultant Engineer.
Mayor Jabbour indicated the item for Council consideration was a resolution endorsing candidates
for appointment to the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) Board. Mayor Jabbour
provided background regarding the candidate review process. This is an opportunity for the cities
within the Watershed District to have candidates appointed to the Board who support the views of
the cities regarding the management of water resources. As none of the candidates proposed for
endorsement are currently incumbents on the Board, Council Member Goetten asked who the
incumbents are. Mayor Jabbour indicated he was not sure who all the incumbents are, but one is
Woody Love from Shorewood. Mayor Jabbour indicated he is not familiar with the candidates
proposed for endorsement but suggested the Council follow the suggestions made by the candidate
interview board. The interview board included Howard Bennis, the Mayor of Deephaven and Ed
Shukle, the City Manager of Mound.
Council Member Kelley moved and Council Member Peterson seconded approval of the resolution
. endorsing candidates for appointment to the MCWD Board. Ayes 4, Nays 0.
The special council meeting was adjourned at 8:20 a.m.
