Lot area variance will be required to construct a new house. This is not an unusual situation for Orono. The process takes two to three months. An application packet is available online at http://wvwv.c�.orono.rrn.us/permits.htm or at City offices. Topographic survey required to determine the extent of floodplain on property. It may be necessary to put the house on a foot or two of fill and lower the grade on part of the lot to compensate for this fill. Setbacks — 75 feet from lake but house must also be behind a line connecting the houses on either side, side 30 feet, street 50 feet.
