MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD MAY 23, 1988 <br />J <br />ATTENDANCE 7:00 P.M. <br />CONSENT AGENDA* <br />The Council met on the above date with the <br />following members present:. Mayor Grabek, <br />Councilmembers Peterson, Sime, Goetten and <br />Callahan. The following represented the City <br />staff: City Administrator Bernhardson, Public <br />Works Director Gerhardson, Building & Zoning <br />Administrator Mabusth, Assistant Planning & Zoning <br />Administrator Gaffron and City Clerk Hallin. City <br />Attorney Barrett and City Engineer Cook were also <br />present. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to approve the Consent <br />Agenda subject to the removal of the following <br />item: <br />#27 - Ordinance Amendment - Feeding of <br />Waterfowl - Requested by Councilmember <br />Goetten <br />Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />STREET LIGHTING IMPROVEMENT <br />PUBLIC HEARING 7:00-7:10 <br />RESOLUTION #2441 <br />The affidavit of publication and certificate of <br />mailing was noted. <br />City Administrator Bernhardson explained the <br />purpose of the public hearing was to consider <br />installation of street lights and assessing the <br />cost of such a project to abutting property owners. <br />The proposed assessment cost would be approximately <br />$97,000 and approximate assessment costs would be <br />$7.00 per front foot for residentially used <br />property and $14.00 per front foot for commercially <br />used property. This would be the only assessment <br />to be spread on abutting properties on the entire <br />County Road 15 project. The Council should decide; <br />a.) to go ahead with the project, b.) what amount <br />should be financed through special assessments, c.) <br />how the balance should be financed either through <br />MSA or other funds. <br />Public Comments - <br />Sandy Rauschendorfer, 3895 Shoreline Drive asked <br />why the costs are not taken out of the General <br />Fund. <br />• Mayor Grabek stated that the lighting improvement <br />will be the only portion of the County Road 15 <br />project assessed to the abutting property owners. <br />1 <br />
