Sec.13.0-i RIGHTS OF SUBJECTS OF DaTa
Subd. 1. Type of data. Th�righ�s of irdividual on whom tbe data is s[ored or co be scored shall be as se�forth in this secrion.
Subd.2. Information reqirired to be�ven individual. An individual asked to supply private or confidenrial data coocerning himself shall
be informed of: (a) the purpose and in[ended use of the requested dara wichin the collecting'state agency,political subdivision,or statewide system;
(b)whe[her he may refuse or is legally required to supply�he requested data;(c)any Irnown consequence arising from his supplying or refusing to supply
privace or conndential data;and(d)the idendty of o�er persons or enodes authorized by srace or federal law to receive the data. This requiremen[s6al]
not apply when an individual is asked to supply imzsdeadve daa, pursuant ro secdon 13.82, s�bdivision 5, [o a taw enforcemenc officer.

Subd. 3. Access to data by indi�idual. lipon reques[to a responsible auchority,an individual shall be informed whether he is the subject
of stored data on individuals, and whe�her it is classified as public, private or confidendal. lipon his further request, an individual who is the subject
of stored private or public dara on individuals shall be shown the data wi[hout any charge co him and, if he desires, shall be informed of the content
and mearung of[hat data. After an individual has been shown the private data and informed o[its meaning,the data need not be disclosed to hun for
six mon�hs thereatter unless a dispute or acrion pursuan[to chis secrion is pending or addidonai data on the individual has been collected or creaced.
The responsible authoriry shall provide copies of rhe private or public data upon requesc by the individual subject of[he data. The responsible auchoriry
may require the tequesdng person to pay the acaial cosu of making, cecdfying, and compiling the copies.
The responsible auchoriry shall comply immediately, if possibte, wich any request made pursuant to this subdivision, or within five days of
the date of che request,excluding Samrdays,Sundays and lega]holidays, if immediate compliance is no[possible. If he cannot comply with the request
within rhat time,he shall so inform the individual,�:d may have an addidonal five days wi[hin which to comply with the request,excluding Saturdays,
Sundays and legal holidays.
Subd.4. Procedure when data is not accurate or compiete. An individual may contest the accuracy or comple[eness of public or pri��ate
data conceming himself. To exercise�his rieht,an individual shall notify in wricing[he respoasible authoriry describing the na[ure of the disagreement.
The responsible authoriry shall within 30 days ei[.�:er: (a)correct che data found to be inaecurdte or incomplete and attempe to nodfy past recipienc�of
inaccumce or incomplete data, including recipien�s named by [he individual; or(b)notify the individual that he believes the data to be correcc Data
in dispute shall be disc(osed only if[he individual's statement of disagreement is included with the disclosed data.
The determinarion of the responsibfz au[horiry may be appealed punuant[o the provisions of the administradve procedure act relacing to
contested cases.
