Re;NOTICE OF FIRE CODE VIOLATION
On August 14, 2000 a re-inspection was done on the above mentioned property relating to a
fire inspection completed earlier this year. Enclosed is notification of fire code violations not
completed pertaining to the 1997 Minnesota Uniform Fire Code.
A- Combustible storage, West exit stairwell M.U.F.C. Sec.1103, Cardboard and combustible
materials shall be removed. Metal file cabinets can remain but shall not block exit door.
B- Exit and Construction features, M.U.F.C. Article ]2, All exit and fire doors shall close and
latch properly. Lower west stairwell exit door does not open properly. Self closer shall be
installed on main exit door. Exit and emergency lighting shall be installed and maintained in the
east and west exit stairwells. Exit light shall be removed from ceiling next to kitchen. A
combination exit and emergency light shall be installed to correctly identify exit corridor and door.
C- Fire Alarm Equipment, M.U.F.C. Sec. 1001.5, Fire alarm systems shall be installed and
maintained in accordance U.F.C. Article l0. Smoke detectors shall be installed in store-rooms
next to kitchen.System shall be inspected at least annually by qualified fire alarm personnel. A
copy of the inspection report shall be submitted to the City of Orono, Fire Marshal.

These fire and life safety code violations shall be repaired or updated before the new day-care
