RE: Water Appropriation, City of Orono, Hennepin County
Dear Mr. Collum:
DNR Waters has been notified that you are using a private well on your residence for the sole
purpose of maintaining or increasing surface water levels of a wetland basin.
Please be aware that appropriation of water in excess of 10,000 gallons per day or one million
gallons per year for any use, requires a DNR Appropriation Permit (Minnesota Statue 103G.271). In
addition, permits for appropriation of groundwater in excess of 10,000,000 gallons a year for the
primary purpose of maintaining or increasing surface water levels in the seven county metropolitan
area may not be issued(Minnesota Statue 103G.271 Subd. Sa).
This is only a notification on the need for a DNR Permit if the above-mentioned volumes are
