RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
NO. 3085
A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING SCHUMANN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
AS THE ONLY POLLING PLACE FOR ALL FOUR PRECINCTS FOR THE
APRIL 7, 1992, PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY
WHEREAS, the State Legislature has adopted legislation
requiring a Presidential Primary in 1992; and
WHEREAS, this is a mandate by the State of Minnesota,
without funding for cities and counties to conduct this election;
and
WHEREAS, the purpose and effect of the balloting
conducted during the Presidential Primary are unrelated to the
actual election of candidates to public office; and
WHEREAS, the outcome of the Presidential Primary
balloting will not determine the election of candidates to public
office in Minnesota or at the national level; and
WHEREAS, the City of Orono can save a substantial amount
of funds in election judges salaries as well as Staff time to set
up four precincts, and other miscellaneous costs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Orono, Minnesota, does hereby designate Schumann
Elementary School as the only polling place for all four
precincts in the City of Orono for the April 7, 1992,
Presidential Primary only.

Minnesota at a regular meeting held February 24, 1992.
