Re: Fence Construction
Dear Mr. Thimmesh:
It has come to the attention of this department that you have recently replaced fencing on your
property. Unfortunately portions of this fence violates Orono Zoning Code which prohibits fences
over 42" in the average lakeshore setback and prohibits fences within 75' of Lake Minnetonka (see
attached fence handout).
Therefore,the City must require you to remove any portion of the fence in the 75' setback zone and
reduce the height of the fence to 42" in the average lakeshore setback zone. The average lakeshore
setback is defined as a line drawn between the most lakeward protrusions of the neighbars residence
and the most lakeward protrusions of your residence.
Please bring the fence into compliance before 3/15/99. If this deadline is not met the City may
initiate legal action. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at my office.
