HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-23-1968 Council Minutes• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • i • • VILLAGE OF ORONO Regular Meeting of the Village Council, September 23, 1968 The Village Council met on the above date with the following members present: Mayor Ross; Councilmen Butterfield, Franzel, Searles, and Stubbs. Searles moved, Stubbs seconded, that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 9, 1968, be approved. Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0). The Mayor announced that this was the time and the place for a Public Hearing on the matter of assessments proposed to be made against property owners benefited by Sanitary Sewer and Water Improvement (1967LS -1 and 1967L11-1). The Village Clerk presented the Affidavit of Publication and the Certificate of "ailing to affected property owners of the Public Hearing notice. The following appeared concerning the matter: A. Thies, F. Buschbom of Van Dale, Inc., L. Wilhelm, C. Holter and B. Kenney, representing Washington Scientific Industries. After all persons were heard, the Public Hearing was closed. • The following appeared: F. Curtis concerning street maintenance. L. Larson concerning water petition. P. Van Dusen concerning i mooring license. M. Alvord and P. Fahlin concerning non - conforming use permits. • Franzel moved, Butterfield seconded, that • the request of Stephen Saunders for a variance in lot size and front setback at 1535 Long Lake Boulevard, be referred to the Planning Commission for review and recommendation. Motion, Ayes (S) - Nays (0). • Stubbs moved, Searles seconded, that the request of Ken Cornelius for a variance in * lot size and frontage on Lots 23 -24, Pleasant View, Big Island, be approved. Resolution #256, A Resolution Estimating Expense of 1968SL -1, Determining Amount • To Be Assessed, Directing Preparation Of Assessment Roll, And Calling For Hearing • On Assessments, be adopted. Butterfield moved, Stubbs seconded, that RESOLUTION #257 • Resolution #257, A Resolution Amending Resolution #250 Appointing Election Judges • For The Primary Election To Be Held September 10, 1968, And The General And S Village Election To Be Held November S, 1968, be adopted. Stubbs moved, Searles seconded, that RESOLUTIONd #258 Resolution #258, A Resolution Adopting And Confirming Assessments For Lateral Sanitary Sewer And Water Improvement • (1967LS -1 & 1967LW -1), be adopted. Motion, Ayes (3) - Nays (1). Stubbs voting Nay. Butterfield abstaining. Searles moved, Franzel seconded, that the granting of a 90 -day grace period for non - conforming conditional use permit applications, be approved. Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0) . Butterfield moved, Stubbs seconded, that the All Fund Accounts 2752 through 2853 and Liquor Store Accounts 6374 through 6403, be paid. Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0). Butterfield moved, Stubbs seconded, that the Meeting be adjourned at 11:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday, September 30, 1968.
