permits. Ail provisions of laws and ordinances governing this type ofwork

expire and bccome null and void if construction authorized is not
commenced within 180 days of the date of issuance,or if construction is

We have inspected the existing roofing on your home and garage. The existing roofing
consists of deteriorated cedar shingles. Les Jones Roofing wiA be bidding on the tear off
and reroofing of your home and garage. We propose to do the following work.
Not included in our scope of work:
• Flat Roof
• Metal Pans
�EDAR SHINGLE SPECIFICATIONS
Tea r Off
1. We will tear off the existing roofing on your home and garage. All debris will be
cleaned up and hauled away.
During the tear off process, debris may sift down through the roof boards.
Therefore, we highly recommend that you remove or cover any items that may
be stored in the attic area. We cannot be held liable (referring to the debris
sifiting through) for any interior contents during this process.
Underlayments
1. New afuminum gutter apron may be installed; to be determined on site.
2. Snow and fce barrier will be installed up the first six feet at the eaves.
3. Snow and ice barrier will be installed three feet wide in valleys.
4. One layer of Shingle Mate wifl be installed over the remaining exposed roof area.
5. Prefinished metal 24"W-style valley will be installed.
Vents
1. A new prefinished plumbing vent will be installed to replace the existing.
2. We will remove and install a new he t base, cap coflar and flange to replace the
existing. Note: The actual heat stac� itself will not be removed or replaced.
3. Eleven new galvanized, prefinished bird proof roof vents will be installed. The
cofor will match the new shingles as close as possible.

4. A new bathroom damper will be installed.
Note: If the duct work is accessible from the roof, then we will connect the vent
to the duct work. If no, afl duct work will need to be done by others.
Chimney
1. We will install new galvanized metal shingle tins on the sides of the chimney.
2. New straight style prefinished metal reglet counter flashing will be installed.
Wall Line
1. New galvanized metal shingle tlns will be installed.
2. New preflnished metal (color to match shingles) headwall flashing will be
installed. Note: There will be exposed fasteners. Fasteners to be caulked.
Gutters will be re-used
1. Upon completion of the shingle work, we will clean the gutters and downspouts.
Metal Pans
Cedar 5hingles
The quality of cedar can vary by cedar mills. The only cedar we will be installing is
Cedar Bureau Certified because of high quality of its cedar.
1. We will install new #i Blue Label 16" machine sawn treated cedar shingles.
Cedar shingles will be installed at a 5"exposure to the weather. All cedar
roofing will be installed per the Red Cedar Shingle Bureau specifications.
2. Shingles will be installed with stainless steel staples.
3. We will install 6" EPDM strips at the ridges and hips. If a storm blows the hip
and ridge ofF, this rubber will secure the roof until is repaired.
4. New cedar ridge and cedar hip will be installed.
