HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2584City of ORONO RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL NO. 2584 EURASIAN WATER MILFOIL CONTRIBUTION TO THE LAKE MINNETONKA CONSERVATION DISTRICT WHEREAS, Eurasian Water Milfoil has in the last two to three years become a significant problem on Lake Minnetonka, and WHEREAS, such weed growth has a detrimental affect on the aquatic.life of the lake, and WHEREAS, this problem also exhibits itself by interfering with many of the recreational aspects of the lake together with making it estheticly unpleasing, and WHEREAS, the short time that it has been on the lake it has rapidly spread to all the major bays on the lake, and WHEREAS, this weed can be easily transmitted to other lakes in the State of Minnesota and have a negative impact on its . tourist and recreational quality of life, and WHEREAS, the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District has proposed a program to assist in the control of this weed through the harvesting and r-emoval of it over a long period of time, and WHEREAS, there have been no budgetings done for this program within the L.M.C.D. budget, and WHEREAS, the L.M.C.D. has requested assistance from several sources including public donations, Hennepin County Public Works and the municipalities that make up the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District, and WHEREAS, the City of Orono feels that this is a significant issue and is willing to donate to this cause. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Orono agrees to contribute $15,000.00 to the effort, provided that the other municipalities in the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District 0 11 City of ORONO RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL NO. 2584 donate up to $70,000.00 (not including Orono's contribution) and contingent upon this program going forward and this money of Orono's is used for operational removal of the weeds rather than administrative costs. Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, • • City of oR,olvo RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL NO. 2585 A RESOLUTION WAIVING APPLICATION OF SUBDIVISION REQUIREMENTS FOR LOT LINE REARRANGEMENT FOR RICHARD E. BROWN FILE NO. 1085 WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono has adopted subdivison regulations for the orderly, economic and safe develop- ment of land within the City; and WHEREAS, Richard E. Brown and Mary Page Brown, husband and wife, and Richard A. Erickson and Julie E. Corty, husband and wife, are owners of certain adjoining real property in the City and desire to reconfigure their common lot line to accommodate a portion of a tennis court; and WHEREAS, the said lot line rearrangement involves an exchange of small parcels of land to which the subdivision regulations of the City would ordinarily apply; and WHEREAS, under Minnesota law, the City Council is permitted to waive application of the subdivision.regulations in certain cases. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Orono.hereby finds that the proposed lot line recon- figuration constitutes a case in which compliance with Minnesota subdivision laws and the subdivision regulations of the City of Orono -will create an unnecessary hardship and that failure to so comply does not interfere with the purpose of the sub- division laws'and regulations, and, accordingly, pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 452.358, subd. 4b, the City Council ot*the City of Orono hereby waives compliance with the subdivision regulations of the City*of Orono by Richard -E. Brown and Mary Page Brown, husband and wife, and Richard A. Erickson and Julie E. Corty, husband and wife, in connection with the reconfiguration of their common lot line by execution and delivery of deeds in the form attached to this Resolution as Exhibits A and B, and the recording and filing thereof on the land records of Hennepin County, Minnesota.
