• <br />• <br />f <br />City of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCI L <br />NO. 2506 <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING <br />A CLEAN WATER PROJECT FOR LONG LAKE <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono has long had an interest in <br />preserving and improving its natural resources; and <br />WHEREAS, Long Lake has been one of the natural <br />attributes located within the City of Orono; and <br />WHEREAS, the vast majority of property owners on Long <br />Lake are in the City boundaries of Orono; and <br />WHEREAS, the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District <br />(M.C.W.D.) has slated a clean water project to be undertaken <br />through a grant application to the P.C.A.; and <br />WHEREAS, successfully completion of the grant monies <br />could fund the project for up to 50% of the project from this <br />fund together with an additional 20% from other State and Federal <br />funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the balance of the project would be funded by a <br />tax levy against the balance of the district; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono makes up approximately 4.1% <br />of the value in that district. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of <br />Orono, Minnesota support the M.C.W.D.'s undertaking for the grant <br />for a monitoring and diagnostic water quality assessment project <br />on Long Lake and its watershed, however the City predicates its <br />support on M.C.W.D. receiving City concurrence prior to <br />undertaking of the remedial project phase. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City indicates its <br />willingness to contribute up to $500.00 should the Minnehaha <br />Creek Watershed District desire such financial support for the <br />grant application. <br />Adopted by the Orono City Council on the 28th day of <br />September, 1988: <br />4JaipW.WGrae , Mayor <br />
