A RESOLIITION CO�MORATING
WILLIAM 'BRAD' VAN NEST
WH�REAS, The City of Orono is a municipal corporation existing
under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and
W�EREAS, William "Brad" Van Nest was a resident of the City of
Orono; and
WHEREAS, Brad was a Planning Commission Member from February 28,
1972 until 1�Tovember 22, 1976, and served as Planning Commission Chairman
and Vice-Chairman; and
WHEREAS, Brad served the community as Mayor from November I976
• through Deceanber 1982; and
WH�REAS, during his 11 years as Planning Commission Member and
Mayor, Brad �layed a principal role in the creation and adoption of Orono's
' � Comprehensiv�e Plan, which continues to guide the development philosophy of
� the community; and �
1 WHEREAS, Brad was instrumental in enhancing and perpetuating the
quality of l�.fe for the residents of Orono, through his signficant efforts
' to preserve �he quality and character of Lake Minnetonka; and
� WH�REAS, Brad Van Nest represented the highest form of leadership
through his 3ong term self less devotion to his community and protection of
its natural assets; and
, WH�REAS, Brad passed away on August 24, 1988.
NO'�i, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVI3D, that the Orono Council, the Orono
residents, and Orono staff extends their condolences to the family of
William "Brad" Van Nest and their heartfelt thanks for all his
contributions to the City of Orono.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono at a regular
Council meet3ng on the 12th day of September, 1988.
