THIS IS NOT A PERMIT. Tliis is a design approval form which must accompany the site plan. A permit must
be issued to a licensed septic contractor prior to installation. A list of currently licensed septic contractors is
enclosed.
NOTICE TO INSTALLERS: Any changes to the approved plans and specs must have prior approval of the
Inspector (473-7357). Call for inspections 24 hours in advance.
ALL DRAINFIELD AREAS MUST BE FENCED OFF prior to building site excavation and fencing must remain
in place until �nal site grading. Approval to pour footings will not be granted until tl�e Inspections Department
has verified that primary and alternate sites are adequately protected.
NO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC OF ANY KIND (cars, trucks, earth moving equipment, etc.) is allowed wi[hin 20'
of tested drainfield sites either before or after system construction. Compaction of these areas could render them
unusable prohibiting the timely completion and or limiting the long term use of the property.
A site copy will be available at the City Offices for the septic contractor.

Dear Steve:
This proposed on-site septic s�stcm was designed for a 4 hedruom home, with an estimated flow of 600
gallons per day. Due to mottlecl soils at a depth of 20" in the primary site, the primary will need to be a
mound system with 16" of sand under the rockbed at the upslope side. The site in which this s�stcni is
proposed has a average existin�� ground slope of 6%, and percolation rates ranging from 10-28 MPL The
rock bed size will be 10 feet wide and �0 feet long with the overall dimensions of the primary mound
being 76.0 feet long and 4?.0 feet wide.
An alternate septic system has been shown on tl�e p(an to show that there is enough undisturbed area on
the lot to support another septic system. This system will also need to be a mound system. Mottled
soils were found at a depth of 21 inches and the average slope of the area is 6%. This system will not
need to be constructed unless thr primary mound fails.
The original perc tests and soil borings that were completed by others and were done in 1989.
Additional soil tests were completed to verify the depth to the seasonal water table.
Certain precautions will need to be made to protect the areas in which the above referenced septic
systems are proposed. Both primary and alternate septic areas have been or will be staked off. It is
critical that the soil is not disturbed before, during, and after construction of the system.
These systems should treat the �eptic ef�fluent effectively if the systems are installed properly and are
maintained properly. It is recommenced that the septic tanks be pumped once every two years. "This
wil] reduce the chance of solids reaching the mound system. It is also recommended not to use
excessive amounts of chlorine, soaps, and chlorine products which can kill bacteria in the septic tanks.
This bacteria is needed to treat the septic effluent.
