During the pre-sale of property, Marie Alt, property owner, was asked to have the
1,000 gallon underground propane tank properly decommissioned. The
jurisdicicting fire marshal from Long Lake was contacted and it was agreed that
abandoning the tank in place was the best option.
Tank was found to have some product remaining in it and Quality Propane was
contracted to burn off and purge any residual vapors from tank. Tank was then
filled to capacity with inert poly-foam, piping was disconnected and all openings in
tank were sealed shut.
