RE: Sump Discharge
Dear Mr. Ritchie:
This letter is to confirm our conversation on January 27, 1989.
Ground water from a sump pump may be discharged on the surface as
long as you are not affecting your neighbors. Any other waste
water such as clothing washer waste, etc. , must be dumped into
your septic system. An effective way to deal with sump ground
water is to provide a french drain system which would be a pit
filled with rock that would absorb the water pumped into it (the
pit should be placed far enough away from the house so that water
is not circulated).
