Melanie,
Thanks for providing this information and the opportunity to comment. If the MCWD has been involved with the
permitting process then I don't need to review. We've authorized the District to do permitting on our behalf for
crossings of Public Waters and their staff is good at contacting me if they have any questions or concerns. I have copied
Steve Christopher on this note just to make sure that the District has permitted consistent with DNR and District rules
for Public Water crossings.
Thanks,
Jack

HiJack
We recently recevied a request from a builder/developer who would like to re-construct and re-locate an existing wooden
bridge which crosses Long Lake Creek (which outlets into Tanager Lake) adjacent to 120 Creek Ridge Pass in Orono.
I have attached a plan from 2003 which illustrates the existing location. It is my understanding that they want to relocate
the crossing to be in line with the existing lot line between Lots 2 and 3.
The builder has received a permit from the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, and will also apply for a City
construction permit. Do you have any comments regarding this project? Specifically, location, type of materials used,
method of construction or any other concerns of n e. If ou ne more detailed information—topography etc—please let
me know. `,

Melanie,
That is correct that the proposed work would only trigger our erosion control rule. There are no new structures that are
coming in contact with the bed or bank of a watercourse. The bridge will fuliy span the watercourse including the
footings. Additionally, there is currently no navigation within the watercourse and hydraulic capacity will not be altered.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist with.

I spoke with my contact for this request, Dan with Home Time. He informed me that the project only triggered an
erosion control permit from the District. Is this the case? I am asking because for a water crossing permit we would
defer to the District's plan submittal requirements for our permit. Can you please clarify this for me?
