Geri,
How big of a sport court are we talking about? Within the RR-1 B zone, structures over 1,000 sq ft require a 30'
side yard setback and a 50' rear setback. Between 750 - 1,000' the setback is 15'. A 6 foot fence is allowed.
If the fence is over 6' in height the setbacks are 30' side yard and 50' rear yard, engineered plans for the fence
are required and a variance is necessary.
Once we know the size of the court and have it drawn on the survey we could better advise, but as for right
now, I know your big concern is the wetland buffer. We believe instaliing a sport court would cause enough
land disturbance and would result in more hardcover draining toward the wetland, therefore still triggering the
buffer requirement.
For the answers regarding your fire pit questions, I'm forwarding this email to our Building Official, Lyle Oman
to address.

Hi Christine:
It was nice seeing you today. Here are some of my questions about putting a sport court and fire pit in my
backyard.
1. The sport court would be in my side back yard where the land is pretty flat today. Between house lower
level walkout and west side lot line. Not
behind house like pool. It would have a fence and lighting with it. From
what I believe the rules are, I don't believe it triggers any wetland issue, please advise.
2. What are the setback requirements (although I think we will be way far away from those. Are there rules on
fencing? Is it in the general building permit?
3. Firepit- we are debating between a wood burning pit and a gas fire pit.
What are the restrictions for both as par as set back, distance from house and permit needed?
