Subject: Meeting With Owner
I met today in the of f ice with Tom Sachs who owns a cottage
at the above referenced address. According to the survey which
he brought in and which we have on file, this cottage is entirely
within the 0-75' setback zone and in fact is approximately 30 '
from the shoreline. Mr. Sachs questioned whether is was feasible
to add a screen porch onto that cottage over the existing stone
patio. I explained to him that that would take a variance and
that while he has the right to apply for such a variance, it
would be inconsistent and unusual for the Council to grant such a
magnitude of variance as would be required. We also discussed
the potential of moving that cottage to meet the 75' setback line
and the need to review an average lakeshore setback. In
addition, we discussed the location of the driveway near or over
the the lot corner on either side, and discussed the location of
the existing sewer which may affect building on the street end of
the lot. Mr. Sachs' final comment was that for the time being he
will likely obtain a permit for residing and replacing a few
windows and minor interior remodeling and is not interested at
this time in making a full fledged application with a relatively
slim chance of approval.
