No wells currently exist on the property but a privy does exist The owners carry water to the site from the main land. 3) Soil Conditions —The Hennipen County Soil Surve has ma ed the soil within th r Y pp e a ea of the subject propeny to be a Hayden Series loam. An update of the soil survey, a work in progress, has renamed the Hayden.Series to the Lester Series. The Lester Series soil is a very deep, well drained soil, with a depth to seasonal high water table greater than 6.0'. A description of the Lester Series is included in Soils Appendix. Our own soil borings performed on the lot, within the proposed drain field areas, found the soil to closely match the Lester Series. The physical properties section of the soil survey states the permeability of the soil ranges from 30-I 00 minutes per inch. Perc tests done on the lot 'rn 1987 by a E. Mullenmeister, found the perc rate of the soil to range from 8-33 minutes per inch. 4 Sizin of Treatment S stem —The sewa ) g y ge treatment system is designed for a two-bedroom home, with garbage disposal or whirlpool. The estimated daily flow for a two-bedroom home is 300 gallons. 5) Description of the Treatment Process— ➢ Primary Treatment - Sewage will be gravity discharged from the house to two septic tanks. Natural biological activities taking place inside of the septic tanks will separate solids and suspected particles. Solids are reduced to some extent through this process. , ➢ Secondary Treatment— Effluent Filter - Septage from the ciear zone of the septic tank flows through an Orenco biotube effluent filter placed inside of the septic tank, attached to the outlet of the tank. Suspended particles larger than I/8" are filter out by the biotube effluent filter. ➢ Final Treatment—Screened septage is discharged out of the lift tank through the biotube pump vault to drain field consisting of Inltrator BioDiffusers. As the septage trickles through the soil below biochemical processes remove harmful viruses and bacteria. 6) Description of Treatment System - ' ➢ Septic Tank— Use a I 500 gallon Xerxes fiberglass septic tank. Inlet and outlet of the tanks must have cast in place rubber fittings to create a watertight seal around the inlet , and outlet pipes. ➢ Risers— Use 24" diameter heavy corrugated pvc pipe. A watertight seal must be created between top of tank and the each riser. Top of risers shall be 2-3" above finished grade. ➢ Riser Covers — Use 24" diameter fiberglass covers with gasket, Orenco model # FL24G (or equivalent). Do not bury riser covers. ➢ Effluent Filter— Use an Orenco biotube effluent filter, FT0444-36. ➢ High Level Alarm/Float - Use a SJE Rhombus Level Alert or equivalent liquid level alarm, and low water/redundant off alarm. Set the float tether to activate the level alarm should the liquid level reach the inlet invert of the septic tank. Place the level alarm inside of the house in a location where the alarm can be heard. Run all wires from the floats through a grommet installed in the riser wall then through plastic conduit to the a splice box mounted above ground on a permanent pole or post or equivalent Seal opening in riser where wires pass through. 2 _ • . . ➢ Drain field — Use Infiltrator Standard Sidewinder Chambers, or equivalent, for the drain field media. This model of chamber is equal to 6" of sidewall when comparing to a standard rock trench configuration. Dig five trenches to the lengths, widths, and depth given in the design spec sheets and drawing details. Place a drop box at the end of each trench, connecting drop boxes with 4" pvc pipe. Establish a vegetative cover over the entire drain field area. I7) Limitations - Our investigation, layout, design, and recommendations are based on data " submitted. If conditions considerably different from those described in this report are encountered, we must be notified. If proposed construction is changed, we must be notified to evaluate the effect of the changes on the wastewater system. Any changes to the design must be approved by the designer and will be assessed additional design costs. If changes are made to the design without the knowledge and approval of the designer the design shall be void All construction is to be in accordance with the ISTS regulations. Pipe type and size, installation requirements, septic tank construction, and other specifications not depicted in our report are to conform to ISTS regulations. The installer of the system is to be licensed by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. ,/` " , Kevin J. JIN1f MIttEASEf!MUNI6ER Minneapolis, MN 55437 $ ' Re: Proposed sewage treatment system plans for new construction. ' I) Subject property Address —280 Big Island, Orono, MN 2) Site Conditions - The lot is a wooded lot lake lot with an eacisting cabin without running water tor sewer system. No wells currently exist on the property but a privy does exist The owners carry water to the site from the main land. ' 3) Soil Conditions —The Hennipen County Soil Survey has mapped the soil within the area of the ' subject propeny to be a Hayden Series loam. An update of the soil survey, a work in progress, has renamed the Hayden Series to the Lester Series. The Lester Series soil is a very deep, well drained soil, with a depth to seasonal high water table greater than 6.0'. A description of the ' Lester Series is included in Soils Appendix. Our own soil borings performed on the lot, within the proposed drain field areas, found the soil to closely match the Lester Series. The physical ' properties section of the soil survey states the permeability of the soil ranges from 30-I 00 minutes per inch. Perc tests done on the lot in I 987 by a E. Mullenmeister, found the perc rate of the soil to range from $-33 minutes per inch. ' 4 Sizin of Treatment S stem —The sewa e treatment s stem is desi ned for a two-bedroom ) g Y S Y g ' home, with garbage disposal or whirlpool. The estimated daily flow for a two-bedroom home is 300 gallons. ' S) Description of the Treatment Process — ' Primary Treatment- Sewage will be gravity discharged from the house to two septic tanks. Natural biological activities taking place inside of the septic tanks witl separate solids and suspected particles. Solids are reduced to some extent through this process. ' 1 , t ' ' ' , r Secondary Treatment— Effluent Filter - Septage from the clear zone of the septic tank flows through an Orenco biotube effluent filter placed inside of the septic tank, attached to the outlet of the tank. Suspended particles larger than 118" are filter out by the biotube effluent filter. ' y Final Treatment—Screened septage is discharged out of the lift tank through the biotube ' pump vault to drain field consisting of Infiltrator BioDiffusers. As the septage trickles through the soil below biochemical processes remove harmful viruses and bacteria. ' 6) Description of Treatment System - ' ➢ Septic Tank— Use a I 500 gallon Xei-xes fiberglass septic tank. Inlet and outlet of the tanks must have cast in place rubber fittings to create a watertight seal around the inlet ' and outlet pipes. y Risers — Use 24" diameter heavy corrugated pvc pipe. A watertight seal must be ' created between top of tank and the each riser. Top of risers shall be 2-3" above finished grade. ' y Riser Covers — Use 24" diameter fiberglass covers with gasket, Orenco model # FL24G (or equivalent). Do not bury riser covers. ➢ Effl n Fil r— n r i ffl n fil r 444- ue t te Use a O enco b otube e ue t te , FTO 36. ' ➢ High Level Alarm/Float - Use a SJE Rhombus Level Alert or equivalent liquid level alarm, and low water/redundant off alarm. Set the float tether to activate the level alarm ishould the liquid level reach the inlet invert of the septic tank. Place the level alarm inside of the house in a location where the alarm can be heard. Run all wires from the ' floats through a grommet installed in the riser wall then through plastic conduit to the a splice box mounted above ground on a permanent pole or post or equivalent. Seal ' opening in riser where wires pass through. ' 2 ' ' ' ' ➢ Drain field — Use Inltrator Standard Sidewinder Chambers, or equivalent, for the drain ' field media. This model of chamber is equal to b" of sidewall when comparing to a standard rock trench configuration. Dig five trenches to the lengths, widths, and depth ' given in the design spec sheets and drawing details. Place a drop box at the end of each trench, connecting drop boxes with 4" pvc pipe. Establish a vegetative cover over the entire drain eld area. 1 , 7) Limitations - Our investigation, layout, design, and recommendations are based on data submitted. If conditions considerably different from those described in this report are encountered, we must be notified. If proposed construction is changed, we must be notied to ' evaluate the effect of the changes on the wastewater system. Anx chang,es to the desin must be approved by the designer and will be assessed additional design costs. If changes are made , co the design without the knowledge and approval of the designer the design shall be void. All construction is to be in accordance with the ISTS regulations. Pipe type and size, installation ' requirements, septic tank construction, and other specifications not depicted in our report are to conform to ISTS regulations. The installer of the system is to be licensed by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. t _ ;.'--,,-.- ' Kevin J.
