Re: Landscaping Do's and Don'ts for Mound Systems, Quick Reminder
Do plant and maintain a ful! cover of grass and keep mowed to a normal height, this grass cover aids
in the evaporation of large amounts of effluent (the fiquid left after the "othe�" stuff has been removed)
in the summer time and allows the mound system to help breakdown nitrogen in the effluent,
Do water the grass over the mound in extreme dry conditions, sparingly.
Do avoid unnecessary foot traffic over the mound, mow it and stay off of it. This is especially true in the
winter time. Even human foot traffic can cause frost to penetrate the mound resulting in potential
freezing problems.
Do inspect your mound system annualiy for winter kill, (reseed if necessary) animal damage,
(burrowing)or signs of potential failure.
Do not plant trees or shrubs on the mound system, smaller trees and shrubs may be planted at the
edges. Remember,that sunshine is the key to a healthy mound system.

A Compliance inspection was completed for the existing on-slte sewage
treatment system located on this property. The system consists of 2-1000
gallon septic tanks, 7-1000 gaflon pumping chamber S a pressurized mound
system with a 10' x 55' rock bed built in �1989 for a 4 bedroom home. Soit
boring #1 found mottled soil {redox features} at 2.6' into the original soii. Soil
boring #1 found the original soil at elev. 89.4 8 the bottom of the rock bed at
elev, 99.4 leaving 2' of sand below the rock bed � a 4.6' separation from the
bottom of the rock bed � redox features, Soii boting #2 found mottled soil at
1.7' into the o�iginal soil. Soil boring #2 found the original soil at elev. 89.5 &
the bottom of the rock bed at elev. 91,4 leaving 1.9' of sand below the rock
bed � a 3.g' separation from the bottom of the rock bed 8� redox features.
This system is classif�ed as in complfance with Minnesota Chapter 7080
rules.
The tanks were pumped � aertified by Kothrade Sewer Water � Excavating.
Nothing other than gray water (laundry, showers etc.} human waste 8� toilet
tissue should be disposed of into the septic tanks. Garbage disposals are
not recommended due to adding more sol�ds & fine solids passing through
into the system. Iron fiiters are also not recommended $ should be diverted
out of the system. Excessive amounts of soaps, antibacteria! soaps,
cleaning agents, shower cleaners used every shower 8 chlorine agents may
kill the bacteria you need living In the system. Additives are not
recommended. Recommend to pump & clean you tanks through the manhole
by a certified pumper every 2 years. Check with your pumper to set up a
schedule.
