HomeMy WebLinkAboutproperty/inspection questions June 4, 2009
Lyle, Tom and I inspected 1470 Cherry Place for final grade. The following items need to be
addressed:
1. The driveway does not have a swale cut into it as per site plan.
2. The driveway flares out to the south at the street side, this was not on the site plan.
3. The drainage way on the north side of the property is not pronounced enough, Tom
suggests an extra '/z foot between the irrigation box and the retaining wall.
4. The steps shown on the site plan were not installed.
5. A sprinkler system has been installed with no permit issued.
6. The entire area between 0-75 has been denuded.
7. The silt fence is down everywhere, a heavy rain storm will be disasterous.
8. The site plan was not followed at all on the south side of the property line. The retaining
walls were constructed wrong and too far out to direct the drainage to where it needs to
go.
9. There is $3452.25 outstanding for legal and engineering fees that must be paid before a
C.O. is given as per zoning department.

Tom,
I spoke with Lyle Oman, Building Official, he said Item#5 remains outstanding. A sprinkler system was
installed with a permit being issued.
Also, Item#9 remains unpaid.

I don't believe so, but the inspector that wrote that report is currently not in the office. If I can catch him before
4:30 today, I'll ask, otherwise you'll hear from me next week with a definite answer.
Have a great weekend.

Christine,
Thank you for the information —one question: Were the issues raised in the June 4th inspection report ever corrected?

Hi,
We are considering making an offer on this property but had a few questions about the house and neighborhood.
It seems that it is still in construction — have there been any permit issues? The street file for this address contains all
permits issued. You are weicome to come and review the file during business hours— Monday to Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm.
There have a been a few houses on that block for sale recently—any issues with the lake, crime of new roads going in?
For issues pertaining to Lake Minnetonka, you can contact the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District at 952-745-0789.
Questions pertaining to crime should be directed to the Orono Police Department—952-249-4700.
We have never lived by the lake before so we are a bit confused by the hardcover issues. I've attached our Hardcover
Information Sheet.
Can we assume the house as is complies with hardcover rules?
Has a calculation been done already as to hardcover so we would know about adding a patio, flower beds , etc?
Is there a map of the property that tells us the hardcover limits?
Hardcover allowances are called out in Resolution 5591 (attached).
Also attached is a memo from the building inspector regarding outstanding issues.
An as-built survey is the only way to verify complete compliance with approved hardcover levels and approved grading
plan. This has not been done.
There are old log steps going down to the lake—can those be replaced? Yes, they can be rebuilt in-kind. A building
permit is required. Any building permit questions can best be answered by Lyle Oman, Building Official at 952-249-4625.
Feel free to call me and if I'm unavailable just tell me when to call back—thank you for your help.
