Dear Mr. Shultz,
This is to certify that on July 23, 2010 we did measure the elevations of the existing
foundation located at 3980 Cherry Ave, Orono, MN a.k.a. West 115 feet of Lots 1, 11,
&12, Block 5, Crystal Bay View &part of Gov't Lot 5 Sec 7, Twp 117, Rng 23 and
found the following:
Top of house foundation elevation = 973.5 feet
Top of garage foundation elevation = 973.0 feet
Footing elevation at walkout basement= 965.5 feet
We also certify that on August 5, 2010 we did verify that the foundation size and location
is constructed according to our proposed survey dated November 9, 2009 and last revised
June 6, 2010.

Dear Melanie:
We have reviewed the revised grading plan for the proposed house at 3980 Cherry Avenue. The
plan is dated 5-17-10. We have the following comments with regards to engineering matters:
• We are concerned with the lack of drainage in the backyard. We would recommend
providing at least a 1% slope through the backyard. A sketch is attached to provide
guidance on how this might be achieved. Note that the house elevation may need to be
raised 0.3-0.5 feet with the proposed contours.
• The southeast downspout should be piped to the end of the retaining wall to minimize
the amount of runoff crossing the east property line.
• This project will disturb more than 100 CY of material. Sediment and erosion control
information meeting the requirements of Orono's City Code 79-7(c)(2) must be
submitted. The minimum $2000 sediment and erosion control financial security should
be required of the owner for this permit.
