Mr. & Mrs. D. O'Reilly
3928 Cherry Avenue
Mound, MN 55364
Dear Mr. & Mrs. O'Reilly:
At an inspection of your neighbor's property (1470 Cherry
Place ) to confirm the status of the lakeshore light, we noted
that the light still remains unshielded. Once again, the
inspection staff has sent a letter to the owners advising them of
the requirements of Section 10.60, Subdivision 8 and the need to
provide a shield and/or possibly change the intensity of the
bulb. The letter has established a deadline date for the
improvement in addition to asking for an inspection to confirm
compliance.
Upon request, at that same inspection, staff reviewed and
verified that the outside light attached to the north side of
your home is not shielded from the adjacent property line to the
north. Per that same section, enclosed for your information,
staff will request that the light be provided with the
appropriate shielding by May 27, 1987.
Please contact my office if you have any questions on this
matter.
Sincerely,
G• /'1.c

Ron Glesne, 1470 Cherry Place, again has his mercury light turned on down at
the lakeshore. The light is three to ten feet from the property line. Glesne's
home is protected from glare because they have a very steep hill from the lakeshore
to their home. Muller`s home to the north does not have the light shinin in their
front lakeshore windows.
The light causes the following problems for us:
1. Our dock is lit up by the light. This is a violation of Section 10.60,
Subdivision 8.
2. Our grass hae very little light shining on it because of low
oak tree branches - which will have to be trimmed because the
grass under them is dying.
3. Because of the shape of the oak tree the light glares at our
home through a large space between branches. There is no protection
for us.
4. Our family room, facing the lake, has a solid wall of windows.
The light is always glaring at us. It lights up the west wall of
this room. We have moved furniture in front of a decic door to
avoid .the glare when we sit in our family room at night.
5. The southwest corner of the living room reflects the light.
6. Our bedroom curtains reflect the light and there is a
light spot on our bedroom wall.
We could live with the light if it were in the back of our house but we reall.s
enjoy watching the lake in the evening and the moon's reflection on the water is
wonderful. This light just glares in our family room, ruins the serenity and is
a constant harassment.
Would you please have Ron Glesne put a shield on the light so it does not shine in
our home and light the walls. Ron Glesne put the light there to protect his boat
so as a compromise we can live with our dock being lit up but having that light
glare in our home is pure torture.

The light has been a probiem for a number of years. In the past we have discussed
this problem with Glesne's, but to no avail. The light breaks on occasions, we get
blamed for breaking it, and when Ron fixes it, he sends his wife over to tell us
"We aren't going to like it but he's putting the light up." We have tried to work this
out in a neighborly fashion, but with no success so please help us bv enforcing
the ordinance.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter.
