Install landscape edging along the east side of deck facing our house that will extend from the north property line to the south property line. 2. Lay sod /grass over the existing 2 to 3 foot wide gap that exists on the east side of the deck from the north property line to the south property line. We will spread a small amount of black dirt before laying sod. The thickness will not be more than 1 to 2 inches and will act as a foundation for the grass. 3. The new sod /grass will continue at the same level or grade from the yard to the east towards the deck to the west over the span of 2-3 feet. We will not change the natural slope of the yard towards the deck. 4.
