The purpose of the observations was to evaluate the suitability
of the natural soils to support the proposed house and engineered fill. The purpose of the
compaction testing was to evaluate whether the fill placed below footings was properly
compacted to support the proposed house.
` Background
The previous house on this lot was removed. After the demolition process was completed and
footing excavations for a new house were started, petroleum contamination was encountered.
After a series of soil tests were completed, recommendations were made to remove the
contaminated soil from below the proposed new house. The excavation needed to remove the
contaminated soils only impacted a small part of the house footprint.
Excavation Observations
The excavation to remove the majority of contaminated soils was completed on September 14,
2009. (The verification of the removal of contaminated soil was not the responsibility of Braun
Intertec). The depth of the excavation to remove contaminated soils was extended to an
approximate elevation of 938.
_
 --1 _. __ _- -_. - - • Pr,t'tIn ,,rri<<r,ui,I >>inimtit<<f <1n,n, un<< 1uS'
- ,
' I
